Outer Worlds has recently received a new DLC named Murder on Eridanos. This is both a joyous and melancholic serving of in-game content; while there's more of the game to be had due to the latest addition, Murder on Eridanos is the final DLC. After that, there's nothing left but the gaping void of completion.

Hopefully, players take a while to get to that point what with the new DLC increasing the level cap. A higher level cap means more content to plow through until the inevitable venture to a new playthrough. As always with RPGs and their late-game sections, it can get grindy so a little nudge in the right direction helps.

What Is The Max Level?

Before Murder on Eridanos was released, Outer Worlds merely had a level cap of 33. That's with the previous DLC included. The new DLC added three new levels, upping up the level cap to 36. The rough estimates to attain those three levels clock in at an average of seven hours of game time.

It's worth noting that without the DLCs, Outer Worlds only has a level cap of 30. This is easier to attain if players opted to stop at the base game or didn't purchase the DLCs.

Ways To Level Up Fast

So how does one exhaust those 6-8 hours of game time in order to reach the maximum level of 36? The most direct and obvious way is to play the game. Players need only follow where the main quest takes them.

There are various and for some, more enjoyable methods of leveling but the most direct way is through the main quest. Depending on how much players rush the main questlines in Outer Worlds (DLCs included) they might already be close toward the level cap. However, there are some who prefer to face the final challenges of the game too prepared and at max level.

Choose Violence

Obsidian The-Outer-Worlds DLC

Outer Worlds and its DLCs give the players plenty of freedom in choosing their playstyles. Still, some playstyles are better for power leveling than others. Sneaking around, trying to be a pacifist won't cut it for the most part. That's because one of the best ways to obtain XP is by racking up the body count.

Thankfully, the game presents many opportunities for players to communicate in violence. When looking to level up fast, always go down the war freak path by escalating each and every conversation into a shootout or fisticuffs. Outer Worlds is easy enough anyway and it also allows players to kill anyone — even the crucial story NPCs.

Arm Your Companions Well

Another thing that can help you farm some much-needed XP faster is by expanding one's capacity for mass murder. The companions come to mind here as having two of them all the time can make shootouts proceed faster.

With that said, if players want their companions to be of any use at all in an all-out carnage, then equipping them with the best and most efficient gear is a must. They both have to hit hard and be able to take punches as well so top weapons and armor that the players don't use ought to go to them.

Hack And Pick Locks

While it was mentioned earlier that a pacifistic or stealthy playstyle doesn't earn XP fast enough, one sneaky gameplay method players can use to augment their main XP generator (galactic genocide) is being a shady individual. We're talking about hacking and lockpicking.

Computers are all over NPC bases and there are also tons of locked doors or containers waiting to get picked. Each successful trespass can reward some significant amounts of XP. So it pays to not ignore those locks and computers and to also diversify stat distributions.

Pick The Deadly Demonstrations Perk

Speaking of diversifying stats in Outer Worlds, one perk can make leveling a lot more painless. That would be the Deadly Demonstrations ability. Once unlocked, any companion kill will result in 50 percent more XP.

With this perk activated, players can theoretically just sit back and let their companions do all the work. It's even better if their companions are equipped with nothing but ranged Plasma weapons.

Unique Dialogue Options

If players see themselves exhausting all XP rewards through different playstyles, then this is also a viable option. The art of communication is an underrated leveling method in Outer Worlds.

Skill or perk checks during dialogues actually give substantial amounts of XP. Players will need to have a diverse set of non-combat perks and abilities in order to make this work. If not, it can be quite a gamble.

Camp In Enemy Respawn Spots

In order to make world exploration more challenging or excitingOuter Worlds tends to provide a respawn point for many creatures in areas that usually don't have quest triggers or anything significant going on.

Players can take advantage of this by taking note of places where wild critters or even bandits can respawn when cleared. An abandoned town in Monarch is one example of this and it's also a viable method for players who want to refrain from clearing the friendly NPC population for mere XP.

Skip Melee Combat

That isn't to say melee combat is not as profitable as ranged combat when it comes to attaining XP, it's just that it's less efficient. While the XP rewards are more or less the same, going up to the enemy to get some strikes in is slower.

It's certainly sluggish compared to filling their mouths full of high-velocity lead or giving them a facelift using plasma projectiles. Heck, even just sniping everyone from a safe distance is faster.

Don't Miss Side Quests

the outer worlds is out on steam

One of the most foolproof methods of leveling in Outer Worlds, or any RPG for that matter, is side quests. The main quest has its own appeals and rewards but compared to the side quests, they're a lot less numerous or replayable.

Luckily for those with some bad attention spans or can play through the main quest without going murderously psychotic or plain bored, then side quests provide a respite as well as a significant chunk of XP.
