So why can't you romance any of the characters in The Outer Worlds? It has been explained by the team who made the game. Put simply, its hard to write romance and all that it entails in a role-playing game. It adds an extra layer of difficulty.

That is all fair enough. However, fans do still dream of what romancing certain characters would be like. Is there someone you would want to romance? What characters do you think would have interesting romance stories? Here are ten characters we think would be interesting romance options in The Outer Worlds.

10 Parvati

Parvati is one of the most interesting characters in the game, especially from a romantic standpoint. She is asexual and her character quest is about dating Junlei. There are a lot of misunderstandings about asexuality, but Parvati is written quite well and in an authentic way.

To be able to romance a canonically asexual character as well written as Parvati would be a fantastic first for the main stream video game world. Also, she is cute, kind, and funny and the sweetest companion on your ship.

9 Felix

Felix has a lot of heart and not a lot of experience, and that is part of what makes him such a fun companion. There is something charming about his deep love of tossball and fighting style of just kicking people real hard.

He sort of carries the dumb jock with a  heart of gold aesthetic. Quite lovable.

8 Junlei

Romance-able characters do not all have to be companions. In games famous for their romances, like Mass Effect, some romance-able companions are not exactly part of your crew. It could be like that in The Outer Worlds as well.

Junlei is memorable character because she is smart, wise, and a leader. She and Parvati make for a very cute couple, but maybe romancing her would be cute as well?

7 Lilya

Lilya is related to a lot of quests, as she is basically your boss for the Sublight Salvage and Shipping Corporation. If you follow through the quests,  you do a lot to get into her good graces. However, that can all come crashing down if you deny her extraterrestrial conspiracy.

If you follow through with her every wish and support her conspiracy theory, she could be have been an interesting romance candidate.

6 Ellie

Ellie is another companion on your ship, and is a doctor. She takes no nonsense, and prefers a life of struggle made my herself rather than a comfortable life on Byzantium with her rich family.

As a romance, Ellie would likely have a lot of walls up at first. Seeing her develop as she realizes more and more than she can trust you would be a very rewarding side story.

5 Nyoka

Companion and hunter, Nyoka is one of the coolest fighters in the game. If you do romance her though, you might have to deal a lot with her alcoholism.

Besides her drinking habits and past traumas, she is a pretty grounded and confident person. Definitely someone you would want on your side when the going gets rough. Also, she looks awesome with her red hair and green clothes.

4 ADA

Why not get a little adventurous? Who said you have to romance only humans? While were are not alien races like in Mass Effect, there are very intelligent AIs like AVA. The two of you can sass each other a lot too. It almost comes off as flirting.

It is not the most outlandish idea. After all, Joker and EDI became a couple in Mass Effect 3. Some people just love their spaceships . . . a lot.

3 Martin Callahan

Martin is a vendor who has to suffer wearing that mascot helmet and constantly saying propaganda. Apparently, him and Felix know each other and Felix will give him a kind hello. So he must be a nice guy.

It would be hilarious if you could flirt and romance him without knowing what he looks like under that horrifying mask. Maybe it would all be worth it if you could just free him from his awful career.

2 Zora

Honestly, players also wanted Zora as a possible companion. She is competent, experienced, and a important member of the Iconoclasts. Depending on your choices, she can even become their new leader.

While she is not a companion, Zora is a respectable ally. Romancing her would be very cool. If any character would princess-carry you, its Zora.

1 Phineas

Yes, he is old enough to be a grandpa but you can be whatever age you want to be in this game. So Phineas could be fair game as a romance option. He is the mad scientist who woke you from cryosleep. He is quite invested in you already for the sake of science. Why not get him invested for even more reasons?

It would certainly give your character more reasons to want to save him from The Board.
