One Piece Film: Red has been one of the most hyped anime events of the year, with everything from a major presence at Anime Expo to an important pivot for Crunchyroll’s attempt at theatrical anime distribution. If the several new designs of high-end clothing weren’t already enough of an indicator, One Piece Film Red is set to be a pretty big deal. With its August 6th release close on the horizon, the film follows a stand-alone adventure coming in the midst of the popular Wano arc of the series. Following Luffy coming face to face with a famed singer, Uta, the film reveals some surprising turns that play into lore on the character of Red-Haired Shanks.
