Ori and the Will of the Wisps is an astonishingly beautiful and technically exquisite platformer. But it's in part due to the effort that developer Moon Studios put into making the game a cutting edge PC title that it might have to be downgraded for the Nintendo Switch, if it ever came to the platform. In a recent AMA, Ori's developer admitted that such a port would be "extremely difficult."

"If it were to ever happen though I can tell you that it would be extremely difficult port to make it run at 60fps that's for sure," says Moon Studios lead engineer Gennadiy Korol's in response to a request for a Nintendo Switch port. His implications being that Ori and the Will of the Wisps is so technically demanding that even an optimized port would struggle to reach 60fps.

To his credit, Korol does say Moon Studios loves the Switch, and there's still a possibility. After all, Ori and the Blind Forest did end up getting a release on Nintendo Switch in late 2019. Ori and the Will of the Wisps could eventually make its way to the platform as well, Korol just thinks some sacrifices might need to be made in order to make it happen.

Regardless of whether or not Moon Studios wants to bring Ori and the Will of the Wisps to Nintendo Switch, it ultimately doesn't make the final decision. Ori is published by Microsoft, so Microsoft would make the final decision. Much like how Microsoft will decide whether another Ori game gets made in the future. If fans want Ori on the Switch, or more Ori in the future, they'll have to let Microsoft know it's what they want.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available now on PC and Xbox One.
