Gerighty, a creative director for Massive Entertainment, posted a photo of the Star Wars logo set on its telltale backdrop of distant stars, with the logos for Ubisoft, Massive Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games below the marquis text. Tagged MassiveStarWars, the internet has been abuzz with speculation since the January 1 tweet, with many fans ecstatic over the possibility of Star Wars done with Ubisoft's distinct open-world flavor.

Originally announced back in January 2021, Massive Entertainment's new Star Wars game, ambiguously titled The Star Wars Project, has seen almost nothing in the way of teases or reveals since its initial announcement. Little is known about the game besides being a new story-driven open-world game set in the Star Wars galaxy. Whether the game will share any DNA with Massive Entertainment's previous title, The Division, is uncertain, however, it is confirmed that the game is being developed with Ubisoft's in-house Snowdrop Engine. According to Ubisoft CEO and co-founder Yves Guillemot, "This is the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Games."

Between the March release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian, and the slate of fresh Star Wars series from Disney+, 2023 is shaping up to be even more enticing to Star Wars fans than 2022 was. While gamers scour the internet for details surrounding Ubisoft's mysterious new project, there is plenty of new Star Wars content coming down the pipeline to keep them occupied until its official reveal.
