One Piece is cruising toward the end of the Wano Country arc. The series has already crossed the 1000-chapter milestone; making it one of the longest-running manga series of all time. Even after so many chapters, devil fruits still remain the easiest way of gaining new power.

The strongest characters in the series are armed with overpowered devil fruits. However, not everyone is lucky enough to have a powerful devil fruit. There are many characters who possess quite useless devil fruits in One Piece.

Updated on April 25, 2023, by Suzail Ahmad: Most people compare eating a devil fruit to participating in a lottery. Due to the limited information available on these mysterious objects, it is extremely difficult for a person to find out what power a particular devil fruit grants. So, a person who has a devil fruit can either decide to take the risk and eat it, or just sell it for a hefty price. Most people end up eating the devil fruits because of their desire to become more powerful. If they are lucky, they get strong abilities, but those who aren't so lucky are stuck with weak devil fruits. These devil fruits offer powers that are either borderline useless or highly situational. So, these devil fruits are rather weak and not as coveted as the rest. But which of them truly deserves to be called the weakest devil fruit in One Piece?

19 Awa Awa no Mi

Kalifa attacks Nami

The Awa Awa no Mi is the devil fruit of Kalifa. She was originally a member of CP9, but after the group's defeat at Enies Lobby, she was kicked out along with the others. She was eventually promoted to CP0, although she is one of the weaker members of the organization. Kalifa ate the Awa Awa no Mi in the Enies Lobby arc.

This paramecia devil fruit grants Kalifa the ability to create soap and bubbles that can drain her opponents of their energy. However, the devil fruit is susceptible to water. If someone comes into contact with water, the effects of the devil fruit are completely nullified.

18 Mato Mato no Mi

Vander Decken laughing

Vander Decken IX was one of the main antagonists of the Fish-Man Island arc. He was a rather weak character who couldn't win a 1v1 with anyone. However, his Mato Mato no Mi did help him out a bit. The paramecia-type devil fruit allowed him to put a mark on any individual, turning them into a "target."

After placing the mark, Vander Decken could throw a weapon or another object in any direction, and it would automatically seek out the target and hit it. While this ability is definitely useful, it requires Vander Decken to touch the individual. Furthermore, if he touched another person, the previous mark would be removed, so he had to be careful whom he touched.

17 Beta Beta no Mi

Trebol in One Piece

The Beta Beta no Mi belonged to Trebol, who was one of the three highest-ranked officers of the Donquixote Pirates. Trebol was responsible for filling Doflamingo's mind with hatred and giving him the means to kill his father. Trebol's Beta Beta no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit that enables him to create and control mucus.

There is no restriction to how much mucus he can make, so he could potentially use it to trap his opponents in it. The mucus is also flammable, and Trebol often used it to attack his enemies. However, it could also backfire if someone else were to light it on fire.

16 SMILEs

Killer disguised as Kamazou

SMILEs are artificial devil fruits created with SAD. These artificial devil fruits were manufactured by Caesar and Doflamingo. SMILEs were distributed to Kaido who fed them to lower-ranked members of the Beasts Pirates. SMILEs grant the properties of zoan-type devil fruits, but they are not as powerful as the real ones.

SMILEs also have a high failure rate. If a person were to consume a faulty SMILE, they would not gain any special abilities, and on top of that, they would lose their ability to swim and their control over emotions. Keeping in mind all of their disadvantages, SMILEs are definitely extremely weak.

15 Baku Baku No Mi

One Piece Wapol at Levely

It was eaten by Wapol, who was the main antagonist of the Drum Island arc. The devil fruit allows the user to eat anything living or non-living. Once the user eats something, they can transform parts of their body into the thing they consumed.

While this might seem useful, it heavily requires the user to be around some kind of powerful object. So, without eating something strong, the user cannot fight against a tough opponent.

14 Kuku Kuku No Mi

One Piece Streusen using his devil fruit

Kuku Kuku no Mi was eaten by Streusen, a member of the Big Mom Pirates. It is a paramecia-type devil fruit, and it allows its user to turn any object into food.

The devil fruit can come in handy in difficult situations, where food is not available. However, it does not provide its user the ability to attack their opponent, which makes it a weak devil fruit.

13 Doa Doa No Mi

One Piece Blueno fights against Luffy

Doa Doa no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit, which was eaten by CP9's Blueno. The devil fruit has a fairly simple ability to create doors on any surface. While this ability can prove to be helpful at times, it is unable to cause any harm to the opponent.

If a part of the target's body is turned into a door, it will automatically revert to normal after some time. Blueno had to use his own physical abilities to fight his opponents as the devil fruit did not offer any increase in terms of strength.

12 Nagi Nagi No Mi

Donquixote Rosinante from One Piece

It was eaten by Donquixote Rosinante, who served in the Navy. After eating the devil fruit, Rosinante was able to nullify sound in a certain area. He could cancel all the noise coming from the outside, and he could also cancel the noise inside a specific area which would make it impossible for people on the outside to hear him.

The devil fruit is suitable for launching surprise attacks on enemies, but the user would have to use their own strength to defeat the target.

11 Yomi Yomi No Mi

One Piece Straw Hats Brook Bounty Wano

The devil fruit was eaten by Brook, who is the musician of the Straw Hat Pirates. The devil fruit is powerful only after the user dies once.

After the death of the user, it revives them and grants them soul-based abilities, which are extremely powerful. However, the devil fruit is useless while the user is alive and it also takes away their ability to swim.

10 Kilo Kilo No Mi

Miss Valentine from One Piece

Kilo Kilo no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit, and it was eaten by Miss Valentine. With the power of the Kilo Kilo no Mi, Miss Valentine was able to change her weight between 1 to 1000 kilograms. The devil fruit is very underwhelming and it is very easy to dodge the attacks.

Anyone with decent speed can dodge the attacks from the Kilo Kilo no Mi, which makes it almost useless while attacking. It was evident during the Whiskey Peak arc that Miss Valentine didn't pose a serious threat to the Straw Hat Pirates.

9 Beri Beri No Mi

One Piece Very Good being attacked by Franky

Eaten by Very Good, a naval Captain, the devil fruit was first introduced during the Enies Lobby arc. It is a paramecia type, that grants its user the ability to turn into multiple spheres. Very Good can easily dodge blunt attacks, which can prove useful on rare occasions.

Beri Beri no Mi only makes its user immune to blunt attacks, however, the user cannot avoid sharp attacks, which gives swordsmen a huge advantage over the devil fruit wielder.

8 Ori Ori No Mi

Hina in One Piece Stampede

Ori Ori no Mi was eaten by Hina, a marine officer. The devil fruit has the simple ability to create bars that allow its user to trap the targets. It is a decent ability, but it has many weaknesses.

RELATED: One Piece: Strongest Swordsmen, Ranked

Firstly, the devil fruit takes a long time to form the metallic bars, thus giving the opponent an easy opportunity to dodge the attacks. Secondly, the user runs the risk of accidentally capturing their own allies within the bars.

7 Guru Guru No Mi

One Piece Buffalo using his devil fruit to fly

The devil fruit was eaten by Buffalo, a member of the Donquixote Pirates. It is among the few devil fruits that grant the ability to fly. Guru Guru no Mi allows the user to create propellers on their body, allowing them to fly and transport their allies.

The devil fruit has very limited potential and there's not much Buffalo can do with it. He has no way of defending or attacking his opponent, which makes it completely useless in a fight.

6 Hito Hito No Mi

One Piece Chopper of the Straw Hat Pirates

Hito Hito no Mi is a Zoan-type devil fruit that was eaten by Chopper, who is the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. The devil fruit allows Chopper to turn into a human, which might seem useful at first, but in reality, the devil fruit is pretty ordinary.

In order to improve his fighting abilities, Chopper was forced to create the Rumble Balls. These Rumble Balls enhance Chopper's powers, which are otherwise, pretty underwhelming. Being able to turn into a normal human is easily one of the weakest devil fruit abilities in One Piece.

5 Jake Jake No Mi

One Piece Kelly Funk using Jake Jake no Mi

Jake Jake no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit that was consumed by Kelly Funk. The devil fruit allows its user to turn into a jacket that can be worn by others. The jacket can be worn by other individuals, and it enables Kelly Funk to take over their bodies.

RELATED: One Piece: Strongest Power-Ups of Monkey D. Luffy, Ranked

It is unknown whether Kelly Funk can force others into wearing the jacket against their will. However, it is plausible to assume that he cannot force characters stronger than him into wearing the jacket, making it a useless ability in most scenarios.

4 Sube Sube No Mi

One Piece Alvida after eating her devil fruit

Sube Sube no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit, that is wielded by Alvida. As a side-effect of eating the devil fruit, Alvida turned into a skinny woman, but she retained her strength. The devil fruit smoothened her skin to the point where any attack just bounced off it.

However, there are limitations on the devil fruit, and certain attacks, such as those from Smoker's Moku Moku no Mi are able to bypass the fruit's defense. Sube Sube no Mi does not improve the attacking ability of its user and provides a below-par defense, which makes it one of the most unusable devil fruits.

3 Fuku Fuku No Mi

One Piece Kin'emon using his devil fruit power

This is a paramecia-type devil fruit that was eaten by Kin'emon. For a long time, Kin'emon didn't know how to use the devil fruit properly, but after meeting Luffy and co. he finally understood the power of his devil fruit.

The devil fruit allows Kin'emon to create clothes, armor, etc. with the help of other small objects such as sticks and stones. The objects created by the power of the devil fruit are not permanent, and they cease to exist once the clothes are removed.

2 Shari Shari No Mi

One Piece Sharinguru, a Marine officer

Shari Shari no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit, and it was eaten by Sharinguru, a marine officer. The devil fruit offers its user the ordinary ability to be able to turn their arms and feet into wheels. By turning his arms and legs into wheels, Sharinguru is able to increase the speed of his attacks, but that's about it. The devil fruit has no other abilities, which makes it unusable in a fight.

1 Inu Inu No Mi, Model: Dachshund

One Piece Mr. 4, a Baroque Work assassin

Inu Inu no Mi, Model Dachshund was eaten by Mr. 4's bazooka via the process developed by Vegapunk. It turned Mr. 4's bazooka into a living dachshund. The devil fruit provides no other strengths to Mr. 4's bazooka other than turning it into a dachshund.
