One Piece Chapter 1065 was yet another magnificent chapter filled with details about the six satellites of Vegapunk and the ancient kingdom. Since then fans had been eagerly awaiting the release of the next chapter, as there was a possibility that Oda might finally shed some light on the speculation surrounding the Void Century and the ancient kingdom.

In chapter 1066, things took an interesting turn as Oda decided to focus on the incident that took place in Ohara many years ago. Oda finally revealed what happened to Ohara in the aftermath of the Buster Call. While this was enough to captivate the attention of the audience, Oda decided to take things up a notch and reveal the main body of Dr. Vegapunk.

The Main Man

Vegapunk's real body On Egghead Island

In One Piece chapter 1066, as Luffy's group moved closer to inspect the ancient robot, they could feel vibrations coming from it. Luffy believed that the rusty robot was about to blow up, but he couldn't have been more wrong. In the midst of the confusion, he saw a person who seemed to be trapped, so he decided to pull them out. Once the person was freed, it was confirmed in the character box that the person was indeed Dr. Vegapunk.

From Vegapunk's design, it is clear that Oda used Albert Einstein as inspiration. Vegapunk even reenacted the famous Einstein pose, where the genius scientist had his tongue out. In addition to the posture, Oda also made Vegapunk's head look like the top half of an apple. This could have been inspired by the story of Sir Isaac Newton and the apple falling on his head, which led to the discovery of gravity.

Picking Up The Pieces

Monkey D Dragon and Vegapunk

After the tragedy of Ohara, Vegapunk visited the place for himself to see what remained of the once-great civilization. He found that there were several giants on the island who were taking out the books that helped the scholars of Ohara to decipher the Poneglyphs and find out about the true history of the world.

While Vegapunk was on the island, he also met Monkey D. Dragon, who at the time was leading the Freedom Fighters. According to Vegapunk, Dragon detested violence, but the massacre of the people of Ohara changed him. It caused Dragon to start the Revolutionary Army with the help of Bartholomew Kuma and Ivankov. Dragon also asked Vegapunk to join the Revolutionary Army, but the scientist turned down the offer as he would not have been able to perform experiments due to a lack of funds, which is why he started working with the World Government.

How Vegapunk Changed

Shaka the Good

22 years ago, Vegapunk had a massive brain that could be seen from far away. Dragon even pointed out that Vegapunk's brain had grown bigger since their last meeting. In the present timeline, Vegapunk's head is considerably smaller, and it is very likely because of the satellites that he has created. Vegapunk's satellites are sentient and capable of making their own decisions, which is normally impossible for things created by humans.

Interestingly, Vegapunk knew that Luffy would find his way to him, which implies that the scientist might have his own plans for the pirate. However, Vegapunk might have to put them on hold because Luffy is being accompanied by Jewelry Bonney. In the first few chapters of the Egghead Island arc, Bonney confirmed that she came to the island in order to confront Vegapunk and question him about Kuma. Bonney wants to know why Vegapunk turned Kuma into a cyborg and depending on the scientist's answer, she will make the decision to kill or spare him. Franky also questioned Shaka about his treatment of Bartholomew Kuma, but the satellite did not answer. Since this information was not revealed in the chapter, it is plausible to assume that it might be revealed in One Piece Chapter 1067.

What Is His Goal?

Vegapunk and Dragon at Ohara

Dr. Vegapunk is a man of reason, and he has stated that he will carry out all sorts of research because that is his nature as a scientist. In the flashback about Ohara, Vegapunk and Dragon had an intriguing conversation. When Vegapunk admitted that he joined the World Government because they had the funds, he also stated that there are many good people within the organization, especially in the Marines.

Vegapunk assured Dragon that these people could be reasoned with, which increases the possibility of there being many Revolutionary Army members who are currently working within the Marines and other groups affiliated with the World Government. One of the names that constantly pops up in these discussions is that of Aokiji, who was arguably one of the most sensible people within the Marines. Aokiji was also involved in the Ohara tragedy, so he witnessed the wrongdoings of the World Government firsthand.

He even opposed Akainu becoming the Fleet Admiral, which could be another sign that he wants to change how the Marines operate. Regardless of whether Aokiji is or is not a member of the Revolutionary Army, Vegapunk and Dragon seem to have an end goal in mind, which is very likely to bring down the World Government and expose their heinous lies to the people.
