Not long afterward, Admiral Ryokugyu made his way to the island. He wanted to capture Luffy to appease Akainu, but his plans were foiled by Shanks' intervention. In the Whole Cake Island arc, Jimbei left the Big Mom Pirates, as he wanted to fulfill his promise to join Luffy's crew. However, the path of the Straw Hats was blocked by Big Mom and her children.
