By becoming the King of the Pirates, he was essentially immortalized. Not only did Roger have a tremendous pedigree but he also possessed incredible strength that stemmed from his Haki. Only a handful of other One Piece characters can compare to his power, and even fewer could prove a match for him in battle. Those below, however, might just be strong enough to stand a chance.

Updated on August 6, 2023, by Rei Penber: The Pirate King, Gol D. Roger is the strongest and the most influential pirate in the One Piece world, having conquered the entirety of the Grand Line and reached the Final Island as well. Throughout his life, only a handful of other pirates could even hold a candle to him, with Whitebeard being the only one capable of matching him and combat. However, there are several pirates who can, at the very least, challenge him. While these pirates cannot necessarily defeat him, they can at the very least, give him a good fight and show everyone that they are worthy of standing up against the Pirate King. While this list already goes over a bunch of these pirates, there are certainly others that deserve a mention of their own.

20 Edward Weevil

Edward Weevil One Piece

Edward Weevil is one of the strongest known pirates in the One Piece world right now. He stepped forth after the Paramount War along with Miss Bakkin to claim the inheritance that Whitebeard left behind and to get his hands on that, he wiped out several allies of the Whitebeard Pirates.

His strength is such that he was given a bounty of 480 million berries extremely quickly and then the status of a Shichibukai. What's more, Kizaru compared his strength to that of a younger version of Whitebeard, which just goes to show how scary he is.

19 Crocodile

Crocodile Laughing While His Devil Fruit Absorbs attacks In One Piece

Crocodile is one of the former Warlords of the Sea and a pirate with very cunning guile. Although the Crocodile fans saw in Arabasta was quite weak, he has grown tremendously since then. Currently, he has a bounty of 1.965 billion berries on his head and has successfully made a name for himself in the New World.

Even before the events of Arabasta, Crocodile was known to have challenged Whitebeard, although he was likely crushed by him. Now that he's much stronger, in a hypothetical fight with Roger, he would certainly have held his own for a while, at the very least. It must be said that Crocodile would certainly not have been able to defeat Roger, however, he would certainly have given an entertaining fight to the fans and one that even Roger himself would have enjoyed.

18 Douglas Bullet

Bullet in One Piece Stampede

The man known as the Demon Heir, Douglas Bullet is a former member of the Roger Pirates and the primary antagonist for One Piece Stampede. Bullet has not appeared canonically in the story, however, Oda has actually written a proper backstory for this character, which means that this character might be canon even if the movie Stampede is not.

Bullet had a goal to surpass Roger. In fact, Bullet was even a part of the Roger Pirates at one point. After leaving the group, he fought against Crocodile and the fight ended in a tie. He was believed to have tremendous power and enough skill to one day reach Roger's level. Like all the characters that Oda has used in films, such as Shiki, however, Bullet will not make an appearance in the actual story. That said, in a hypothetical situation, Bullet would certainly give a great fight to Roger.

Against Roger, Kid would certainly provide somewhat of a challenge. Even though Kid was completely dismantled by Shanks in an instant, fans would hope that he has learned his lesson and would be more careful in combat next time, as is expected of a man with a bounty as huge as his.

15 Law

Trafalgar Law ROOM-1

Law is yet another powerful pirate with a bounty of 3 billion berries. He is a member of the Worst Generation and one who has made waves across the world. Law recently clashed against Blackbeard and even though he lost this fight, he managed to hold his own for quite a while, which is nothing short of impressive. Prior to that, Law even fought against Big Mom and certainly delivered some serious injuries to her as well.

He certainly isn't on the same level as Roger and it can't be said that Law can even take him on in an extended combat, however, he can certainly injure Roger and deliver some powerful blows to him before finally giving out.

What's more, Luffy also awakened his Devil Fruit and is Nika reborn. Luffy was able to topple Kaido, the strongest creature in the entire world and for him, fighting Roger and even pushing him to his last legs should not be difficult.
