A series of trailers released by Bandai Namco has unveiled further details on six of the playable characters in the upcoming action-adventure game One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4.

Developed by Omega Force, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is the latest in the popular series of hack and slash adventure games based on the popular Japanese manga series written by Eiichiro Oda. The manga has appeared in serialized form in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since 1997 and spawned the creation of an anime series in 1999, as well as a number of One Piece animated films and even a trading card game.

The story of One Piece follows the humorous adventures of a boy named Monkey D. Luffy, captain of the infamous Straw Hat Pirates, whose body has taken on the characteristics of rubber after he accidentally ate a Gum-Gum Fruit. Not known for his intelligence but notorious for his recklessness and utter lack of fear, Luffy and his band of pirate warriors quest for the legendary treasure known only as One Piece, which is said to have unfathomable value.

Four of the playable characters shown in the newly released trailers are Straw Hat Pirates. Brook, after dying in combat and coming back to life with the help of a Revive-Revive Fruit, became the self-appointed musician of the gang of pirates. Franky is the shipwright who built the pirates’ ship, Nico Robin is the group’s archaeologist, and TonyTony.Chopper is the blue-nosed reindeer who became a medic after consumption of a Devil Fruit gave him human intelligence. Obsessed with stopping the Straw Hat Pirates at all costs are Smoker and Tashigi, soldiers of the Navy GL 5th Branch.

Although not all of them have been revealed yet, the game will ultimately have more than 40 playable characters, many of them completely new to the video games. Some playable characters from previous games in the series will not be available in Pirate Warriors 4.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will expand upon the successful formula of the games that came before with battles similar to those found in the Dynasty Warriors games. Players will fight their way through large masses of enemies using a variety of combat moves, combos, and support abilities, and they will now even be able to destroy buildings and parts of the battlefield to take out opponents.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will be released on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 27, 2020.
