For those who are big fans of the anime and/or the manga, the next One Piece game has been officially announced by Bandai Namco. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, as the title impliesis another mashup of One Piece and Dynasty Warriors, and is heading next year to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC through Steam.

Developer Omega Force is at the helm as developer once again alongside Koei Tecmo, having worked on the series from the start. If you enjoyed the games thus far, know that the latest title continues to be in its capable hands.

Because One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 takes its cues from the Dynasty Warriors series, players can expect much of the same type of gameplay. There will be large groups of enemies that will be absolutely devastated by player attacks. Players always have a bit of an unfair advantage over the lowly minion hordes, but that is what makes the experience so fun.

The major difference is, of course, that the warriors players will control will be the various characters from the One Piece seriesThere will be plenty of opportunities to unleash Devil Fruit powers and live out those pirate fantasies.

Bandai Namco has offered very little details on the title at this time, but did confirm that one of the new locations in the game will be Whole Cake Island, a land of themed around sweets of every kind. There's no definite release date quite yet, but the One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 reveal trailer puts the game's launch at some time in 2020.

Over the years, myriad franchises have been mashed up with Dynasty Warriors with varying degrees of success. Titles like Hyrule Warriors, which featured characters from The Legend of Zelda games, was one of the better entries, and helped reinvigorate interest in the franchise. Koei Tecmo continues to be on the lookout for fresh ideas, and has even publicly expressed interest in making a Star Wars version of the games.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will release for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch in 2020.
