Nico Robin is a member of the Straw Hat Pirates who joined Luffy after the events of the Alabasta arc of One Piece. Although Robin initially stood in the way of the Straw Hat Pirates and served as a secondary antagonist of the Alabasta arc, she was saved from death by Luffy and thus decided to stay with the crew.

Robin is an archaeologist who aims to find the true history of the world by locating and deciphering the Rio Poneglyph. Although fans know most things about Robin, her quiet demeanor means that there are details about her that only a few people have noticed.

10 Her Sea Of Origin

One Piece Ohara The Void Century

Nico Robin joined the Straw Hat Pirates in the Grand Line and it is often wrongly assumed that she comes from there. However, that's far from the truth as Robin was born in West Blue and is the only member of the Straw Hat Pirates to come from this sea.

On the island of Ohara, which was once known for its scholars, Robin grew up alone for the most part as her parents were not there to take care of her.

9 Knows The Secrets Of Baltigo

Monkey D. Dragon from One Piece

Baltigo was the base of the Revolutionary Army until recently and it is a place that nobody in the One Piece world could locate. The World Government was trying to find it to stop Dragon for years but nobody, including them, succeeded in doing so until Burgess.

After being rescued by the members of the Revolutionary Army, Robin was taken to Baltigo, where she spent two years training to get stronger. She is one of the very few people in the world who know where Baltigo is.

8 Her Epithets

One Piece Nico Robin

Robin is a well-renowned pirate and the entire world knows what she is capable of and the power that she wields. However, even before becoming a pirate, Robin was already someone worth taking notice of. Nico Robin is known as the "Demon Child," due to being a survivor of Ohara and who could also read the Poneglyphs.

Growing up, she also gained another epithet, which is much more positive. According to the Revolutionary Army, Nico Robin is also known as the "Light of the Revolution," which is once again a reference to her ability to uncover the true history of the world.

7 Her First Bounty

Nico Robin before the tragedy of Ohara

At the age of eight, Nico Robin is one of the youngest people in One Piece to receive a bounty, if not the very youngest. The only known younger person, Charlotte Linlin, also known as Big Mom, got a bounty of 50 million berries at the age of six.

Nico Robin's first bounty was 79 million berries, which is, shockingly, even higher than the figure that was assigned to Big Mom. Evidently, she's a massive threat to the World Government in One Piece.

6 One Of The Youngest Devil Fruit Users

Nico Robin has the power of the Paramecia-type Hana Hana no Mi, which allows her to sprout her body parts, such as limbs, from anywhere within a certain range. Things like power and speed rarely matter when it comes to her skill with this ability.

Interestingly, Robin is also one of the youngest people in the One Piece world to have a Devil Fruit power. The only ones who are known to have been younger than her are Big Mom, Luffy, and Otama.

5 Her Current Bounty

Nico Robin has also amassed a massive bounty over the years. Throughout her life, she's received three bounties, the first of which was 79 million berries. After the events of the Enies Lobby arc, Robin was given an 80 million berries bounty.

Following the two-year timeskip, Robin returned much stronger than before and after Dressrosa, her bounty rose to 130 million berries. This number is likely going to increase once again after the Wano Country arc is done.

4 Her Height

One Piece Straw Hat Pirates Time Skip

Oda has drawn several tall characters over the years, with some humans even towering above 10ft quite easily. While Nico Robin isn't that tall, she is still the fourth tallest member of the Straw Hat Pirates at 188 cm, or 6' 2".

The only characters taller than Robin in the crew are Jinbe, the Helmsman, Franky, who is the shipwright, and Brook, who is the musician of the crew.

3 Robin And The Revolutionary Army

Thanks to Robin being with the Revolutionary Army during the two-year timeskip, she had already met the likes of Dragon, making her the first member of the Straw Hat Pirates to meet them. Luffy was made aware of Dragon by Garp on Water 7, however, he still hasn't met him to date.

At the same time, Robin also knew that Sabo was alive but chose not to tell Luffy. Although her relationship with Sabo and Koala is very clear for the fans to see, what she discussed with Dragon over the two years isn't known.

2 Robin's Fishman Karate

Fishman Karate Nico Robin

During the two-year timeskip, Nico Robin spent some time training with Koala, who is a master of Fishman Karate, and Sabo. Under Koala's guidance, Robin managed to learn the basics of Fishman Karate and with its usage, could deliver a powerful strike to the core of an enemy. The ability to find the core of the target is the basis for Ryusoken, meaning Robin also has some skill when it comes to Ryusoken.

In the Wano Country arc, Robin was seen using this against Black Maria of the Tobiroppo when the two fought on Onigashima. Thanks to this skill, she was able to win her fight.

1 How She Joined The Straw Hats

Nico Robin using her attack in Wano arc

Nico Robin joined the Straw Hat Pirates once Crocodile's Baroque Works was no more and Luffy saved her. When the crew left Alabasta, she snuck in and asked Luffy to let her join the crew, a demand to which he simply agreed.

This makes Robin the only person who joined the crew on their own, without anyone asking them. Robin has only gone on to achieve great things since then, however, her true role in the story has still not been fulfilled.
