One Piece's Wano Country arc is nearing its end with each passing chapter and the war of Wano Country is incredibly close to wrapping up. With the last chapter emphasizing how the biggest fight in the entire story is rushing towards its end, the arc is more interesting than ever right now. Following the astounding cliffhanger in the last chapter, all eyes are on One Piece 1048 as fans prepare for what could very well end up being the end of Luffy's incredible fight against Kaido.

At the same time, Momonosuke's internal struggle with his feeling of helplessness will continue and, as things look, he will play a significant role in the coming weeks. After a powerful flashback from the day he was separated from his mother, Eiichiro Oda is ensuring that Momonosuke ends up playing a significant role in the grand finale of the arc. All that and more could be tackled in One Piece chapter 1048.

One Piece 1048: Luffy's Ultimate Attack On Kaido

One Piece 1048 Luffy vs Kaido

Quite easily the most important part of the last One Piece chapter was Luffy's incredible attack that he prepared towards the end. Surpassing all expectations that fans had for his abilities in mind, Luffy used his Devil Fruit to grow his arm to the size of an entire island. If that wasn't impressive enough, he managed to coat the entire arm in Color of Arms and Color of the Supreme King Haki, which made it even stronger. With a devastating blow that could easily wipe out an island and more ready, Luffy appears to be moments away from launching this deadly attack on Kaido.

However, the only problem for him appears to be Onigashima itself. As Luffy mentioned in the previous chapter, Onigashima is directly below Kaido, meaning anything that Luffy throws Kaido's way will also hit the island and destroy it in the process. Luffy ordered Momonosuke to move the island from his way so he could defeat Kaido for good, and it'll be interesting to see whether Momonosuke can actually manage to do that. Provided Momonosuke moves the island from the way, Luffy's attack is all but set to land as he's already grabbing onto Kaido to prevent him from dodging.

While it may be possible for Kaido to tank this powerful hit, it must be noted that he's on his last legs already. Over the last few chapters, Oda has been emphasizing how Kaido is weakening. To everyone's surprise, Kaido even fell to his knees at one point during the fight and, at the same time, his control over Onigashima is weakening too, meaning he's hitting his limit. It appears highly unlikely for him to survive the attack if it lands, meaning Luffy's next strike could very well end it all.

One Piece 1048: Momonosuke's Big Moment

One Piece 1048 Luffy vs Kaido

While One Piece 1048 could very well be the end of the Luffy vs Kaido fight, it is more likely that the chapter will focus on Momonosuke instead. In the previous chapter, fans already got a glimpse of Momonosuke's past where he took a massive step forward while chasing his father's shadow and took upon his shoulders the burden of the entire Wano Country. Intending to revive the Kozuki clan, Momonosuke jumped 20 years into the future and everything that he's done since has brought him to this moment. To save Wano, Momonosuke has to move Onigashima from Luffy's way so Kaido can be defeated once and for all. To do that, however, he needs to create Homuragumo, or Flame Clouds, which he seems unable to create at the moment.

It is possible that Oda will use the Sky Boats that the people of the Flower Capital lit up to help Momonosuke create the clouds. With several wishes written over them, Momonosuke could be moved to a point where he produces the flame clouds. At the same time, the flames themselves could also be used by Oda to help Momonosuke produce his own flame clouds. They could also tie into Luffy's growing want to save the country and liberate them. After all, Luffy is carrying Wano on his back following his promise to Kin'emon, and seeing the wishes of its people could motivate him to do the impossible and take Kaido down for good.

By the end of the chapter, Momonosuke might've possibly moved the island from the path, paving way for Luffy to use his full strength to end Kaido's reign of terror once and for all. Some other interesting plot point that Oda could touch on in the next chapter could be the death of Orochi. Fans saw him attempt to take Hiyori with him as he died in the last chapter. One Piece 1048 could very well see Denjiro step in his path and take his last remaining head to end his life for good. Undoubtedly, One Piece chapter 1048 is all but set to be an incredible one with potentially massive repercussions.
