Things are heating up in One Piece as all the major powers are making a move to secure their goals. This means that soon there will be a huge war that will encompass the entire world. The Navy is one of the "Three Big Powers" in the world of One Piece and in recent chapters, they have been making huge strides toward their goal of having a pirate-free world.
To achieve their goal more quickly, the Navy appears to have created a secret organization of its own, which is called SWORD. SWORD is a top-secret group, whose task is to keep a close watch on the Four Emperors of the Sea. The primary goal of the group remains unknown, but there is no doubt that Oda will reveal this information in the upcoming chapters. So far, only a few members of SWORD have been revealed and in this list, we will take a look at them.
6 X-Drake
X-Drake is one of the members of the Worst Generation. He made his debut in the series in the Sabaody Archipelago arc. Sometime after the timeskip, he joined the Animal Kingdom Pirates and became one of the Flying Six, making him one of the strongest fighters in Kaido's crew. For a long time, it seemed that Drake had abandoned his life as a Marine, and turned to piracy, but in the Wano Country arc, it was revealed that he was serving the Navy after all.
He is actually a part of SWORD, and he was sent to Wano to undermine Kaido, but he failed to do so. X-Drake is a powerful character as he possesses the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus. The devil fruit belongs to the ancient zoan class which means it provides him with far greater recovery and stamina than an ordinary zoan. X-drakes fate remains unclear, but it is very likely that he is still alive, and he will regroup with his team.
5 Koby
Koby was one of the first characters to be introduced in the series. When he met Luffy, he was still a chore boy on Alvida's ship. Koby wanted to become a Naval officer, but he did not have the guts to stand up to Alvida. Luckily for Koby, Luffy helped him to escape, which allowed him to start his life as a member of the Navy. Since joining the Navy, Koby's strength has improved massively.
Currently, he holds the rank of a Navy captain, and he is bound to improve and gain another promotion or two. Koby is a part of SWORD as he was seen talking to X-Drake on a transponder snail. Koby has been involved in the Rocky Port incident, which earned a great deal of praise. He was also sent by the Navy to capture Boa Hancock, but his mission to capture the former Warlord ended in failure, and he was kidnapped by the Blackbeard Pirates.
4 Helmeppo
Initially, Helmeppo was nothing more than the spoiled son of Navy Captain, Morgan. Due to his father's fearful reputation, Helmeppo was able to bully other people. He did not hesitate to lie in order to make sure that things went his way. After being beaten and witnessing his father's imprisonment, Helmeppo decided to join the Navy, where he was partnered with Koby.
In time, the two of them became very close friends, and they grew stronger together. While his friend Koby holds the position of a Navy Captain, Helmeppo is a Lieutenant Commander. Helmeppo's style of fighting is quite unique as he does not use normal swords for fighting, instead, he uses kukri. Helmeppo has had the opportunity to show off his strength, but that might change in the final saga.
3 Hibari
Hibari made her debut in the series just a few chapters ago. She was on an unnamed island that acted as G-14's base. She was seen imploring Prince Grus to take some action to save Koby from the grasp of the Blackbeard Pirates. Hibari was joined in her pleas by Helmeppo, Koby's best friend. It appears that she feels indebted to Koby for his help which is why she was seen pleading to the Rear Admiral to take some action.
Interestingly, Hibari seems to have the same way of speaking as Akainu. Both of them use the Hiroshima dialect, making them the only two characters with this unique dialect. So, it is possible that she might be related to the current Fleet Admiral in some way.
2 Prince Grus
Prince Grus is a Rear Admiral, and he first appeared in the series in a cover story about Bege's family. In the cover story, Grus easily managed to defeat Gotti of the Fire Tank Pirates, which is an impressive feat considering that the pirate has a bounty of 90 million berries.
As a Rear Admiral, Grus has a great deal of authority over other Marines. It also seems that Grus is a sensible man as he refused to invade Blackbeard's territory even after Helmeppo and Hibari implored him to save Koby.
1 Others
In recent chapters, several other SWORD members were shown, but their names weren't disclosed. It is fair to say that there are even more members of this organization, and they will be revealed soon. One of the dominant theories is that Aokiji might be a part of SWORD, which is why Grus refused to go into Blackbeard's territory, as the former Admiral would have to blow his cover to save his underlings. Whether this turns out to be true or not remains to be seen.
