The OfflineTV Rust server is kicking off once again after several months on hiatus. The server attracted a peak of over 1 million concurrent viewers during its short run featuring streaming stars like Pokimane, Shroud, and xQc. Rust enjoyed a revival in popularity because of OfflineTV, but the server's Rust content ended in January after in-game competition between streamers turned into real-life animosity. But according to the founder of the OfflineTV Rust server, all the entertainment will return to Twitch on July 1.

The idea behind the OfflineTV Rust server was to bring together 50 well-known Twitch streamers and pit them against each other in a PvP survival environment. Rust is an ideal game for this purpose because of its heavy survival elements and gameplay that often requires players to choose whether to team up or show hostility. With so many big names playing at once, tensions quickly flared and founder BaboAbe had to split up the OfflineTV server and create a new one with heavier roleplay elements and less PvP interaction.

However, it seems that OfflineTV's return will once again showcase tense PvP interactions in Rust. BaboAbe said in a tweet yesterday that when the server returns on July 1 the action will be "a lot more vanilla-like and pvp focused" and will apparently bring back all of the drama fans were treated to during the server's original run. BaboAbe ensures fans he will share more information before the stream begins, but maybe the biggest question on the minds of potential viewers right now is who exactly will be joining this new iteration of the server.

Of the server's original members, maybe the most controversial is xQc, a Canadian streamer who typically enjoys wreaking havoc in the games he plays. Streamer xQc's latest adventure has been in the Grand Theft Auto Online NoPixel roleplay server, where he was banned no less than four times and may now be permanently banned from GTA RP.

OfflineTV's first roots of controversy actually originated with xQc, with streamer Shroud believing xQc would be the end of the server. Things escalated quickly when some of xQc's followers began sending death threats to another server member, Ash, which triggered the departure of Pokimane and sent the stream into a downward spiral. Although this drama brought in massive viewership, it certainly limited the length that the server could go on.

So far none of these original members have said anything about joining the OfflineTV server once again, but it isn't out of the question to speculate that a few of them could return. Although BaboAbe promises more PvP content, the server risks shutting down for a second time if its players can't get along. Fans eager for more news should keep an eye out for information coming from BaboAbe next month.

Rust is available now on PC, macOS, PS4, and Xbox One.
