Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath was a prized gem that many people played - and subsequently rave about how great it was. Though the game was critically applauded for its creative weapons and ability to evolve, the Oddworld IP was getting stale, and the game didn’t sell well.

Luckily, with the advent of digital of distribution, those who missed out on Stranger’s Wrath will get their chance to play it.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath followed the character of Stranger, a bounty hunter in the Oddworld universe, as he tried to protect his own race of people from a water-stealing demon. While the story might not seem too interesting, the element of Stranger’s Wrath that made it so great was the combat. Playing in both third person and first person views, Stranger was able to use live ammunition - consisting of creatures will various properties like lightning and poisonous gas. It was here that the game brought a fresh take to the genre.

Releasing sometime next year on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath will include the full game with an HD facelift. Oddworld Inhabitants, the original Oddworld development team, is assisting new developers Just Add Water in bringing their excellent but off kilter games to a larger market. Just Add Water had this to say about the game and their relationship working with Oddworld Inhabitants:

“Since word got out that we’ve been working with Oddworld Inhabitants there have been many rumours circulating about what we’re working on. Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is the first project in what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship.”

When it is released, the game’s graphical update will not be the only improvement under the hood. As of now the game is scheduled to receive Move support but isn't a certainty, as the team is waiting to see how the peripheral performs.
