Now, in celebration of Oddworld: Soulstorm's launch, publisher and developer Oddworld Inhabitants has released an all new launch trailer showing off a mix of gameplay and cutscenes. The trailer itself is just under two minutes long and shows off a lot of what makes Oddworld unique. The launch trailer for Oddworld: Soulstorm appears to be captured on PS5 and it certainly shows. Soulstorm's 2.5D sidescrolling platform gameplay is filled with detailed and varied environments that look great on the PS5's powerful hardware. Additionally, the trailer showed plenty more of Oddworld: Soulstorm's Lemmings-esque gameplay, where players are tasked with guiding as many Mudokons to safety as possible.

Of course, saving the Mudokons is one of the key elements of Oddworld: Soulstorm and the previous entries in the series. Similar to the original Abe's Exoddus, Oddworld: Soulstorm has different endings that players can unlock depending on how many Mudokons they've saved over the course of the game. While saving Mudokons is a fun way to get different endings, it also provides an extra layer of depth and challenge to Oddworld's puzzle platforming gameplay.

For those players new to the Oddworld series, Oddworld: Soulstorm is a follow-up to 2014's Oddworld: New n' Tasty!. New and Tasty! is a full remake of the first entry in the Oddworld seriesOddworld: Abe's Oddysee, which was released on PC and PlayStation all the way back in 1997As such, Soulstorm is a remake and reimagining of the second game in the series, as opposed to a full-on continuation of Abe's story from a chronological standpoint.

It's certainly been a long time coming for Oddworld: Soulstorm to make its way into player's hands. Soulstorm was originally announced for a 2017 release date, but was delayed pretty heavily over the course of development. Now, four years later fans are finally able to get their hands on the game to see just what Oddworld Inhabitants have done with the remake of the second entry in the series. Players interested in Oddworld: Soulstorm should absolutely check out New n' Tasty, and should take advantage of Oddworld: Soulstorm being free for PS5 owners for the remainder of April.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
