For new Octopath Traveler players, the game is a turn-based RPG sporting an HD-2D aesthetic, using a blend of retro, sprite-based designs and modern visuals. The unique hook of the game is its structure, with players having to select one of eight adventurers complete with their own individual backstories and traits. As the game progresses, they'll be able to recruit the other seven heroes, playing through their origins and evolving their specific abilities and skills. The game was generally well-regarded upon release, with critics lauding it as a loving homage to retro JRPG classics.

It won't be the only game joining Game Pass this month, with Microsoft confirming several other titles will be added to the service throughout March. Undertale is available now, allowing players to venture through the underworld on Xbox for the first time, while Star Wars: Squadrons, Empire of Sin, Nier: Automata, and Torchlight 3 will follow on March 18. It's a huge addition to the Game Pass library and one that will no doubt attract new players to the coveted Microsoft service. Outside of its newest additions, Game Pass has also recently bolstered its rankings with several iconic Bethesda games, including Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Dishonored, Fallout: New Vegas, and Prey.
