Octopath Traveler is an RPG video game developed by Square Enix and released on the Nintendo Switch in July 2018, PC in June 2019, and Google Stadia in April 2020. It is also releasing on Xbox One in March 2021. The game takes place in the land of Orsterra and follows the journies of eight adventurers, all with different backgrounds and characteristics.

While there are many, many weapons in the game, the ones known as Forbidden Weapons are some of the best. This is because they give the character who equips them an insane boost in stats. However, each comes with an insane drawback too. There are only some Forbidden Weapons in the game (and a finite amount), obtainable through purchasing from NPCs or found in chests in specific dungeons.

6 The Forbidden Axe

Octopath Traveler Wellspring

The Forbidden Axe will give the character who equips it +391 Physical Attack and +80 Speed but also -50 Accuracy. It is purchasable from a Merchant in Wellspring for 66,000 leaves.

Wellspring is a town in the Sunlands, which is a region covered in sand and sun and littered with caves and catacombs in the southern part of Orsterra. The town is known for its Black Market; it is also where Erhardt, the hero of the sands, dwells. Storywise, the player will enter Wellspring in Chapter 3 as Olberic and Chapter 3 as Therion.

When it comes to axes, Apothecaries, Hunters, Runelords, and Warmaster may equip them.

5 The Forbidden Blade

The Forbidden Blade will give the character who equips it +310 Physical Attack and +120 Speed but also has a chance to increase the target's Physical Attack. It is purchasable from a Townsperson in Stonegard Valleys for 75,000 leaves.

Stonegard Valleys is located in Stonegard which is a town in the Highlands, a mountainous region with highlands in the southeastern part of Orsterra. The town is known for its bindery to scholars and the guardians of the woods. Storywise, the player will enter Stonegard, in Chapter 2 as H'aanit and Chapter 3 as Cyrus.

Another way to obtain the Forbidden Blade is by finding it inside a chest in Refuge Ruins, a dungeon in the grassy Riverlands region. It is located near the North Riverford Traverse.

When it comes to swords, Warriors, Thieves, Runelords, and Warmasters may equip them.

4 The Forbidden Bow

The Forbidden Bow will give the character who equips it +282 Physical Attack and +121 Speed but also makes the probability of encountering enemies higher. It is purchasable from an Elderly Woman in Goldshore 71,300 leaves.

Goldshore is a town in the Coastlands, which is a tropical region by the sea in the eastern part of Orsterra. The town is known for its beautiful beaches; it is also where Vanessa Hysel, the mysterious apothecary, dwells. Storywise, the player will enter Goldshore in Chapter 2 as Alfyn and Chapter 3 as Ophilia.

When it comes to bows, Hunters, Merchants, Sorcerers, and Warmasters may equip them.

3 The Forbidden Dagger

The Forbidden Dagger will give the character who equips it +282 Physical Attack and +155 Elemental Attack but also reduce the fire damage and dark damage they deal. It is purchasable from a Dancer in Stillsnow for 72,000 leaves.

Stillsnow is a town in the Frostlands, which is a region with an everlasting winter in the northern part of Orsterra. The town is known for Susanna, their seer, and the Obsidian Parlor, the stronghold of Rufus. Storywise, the player will enter Stillsnow in Chapter 2 as Primrose and Chapter 3 as H'aanit.

Another way to obtain the Forbidden Dagger is by finding it inside a chest in the Forest of Purgation, a dungeon in the green Flatlands region. It is located near the Western Wispermill Flats. Or, the player can discover it inside a chest in the Maw of the Ice Dragon, a dungeon in the Frostlands. It is located near the Southern Northreach Wilds.

When it comes to daggers, Thieves, Dancers, Starseers, and Warmasters may equip them.

2 The Forbidden Spear

The Forbidden Spear will give the character who equips it +320 Physical Attack and +303 Elemental Attack but also -98 Speed. It is purchasable from an Elderly Woman in Quarrycrest for 69,000 leaves.

Quarrycrest is a town in the Cliftlands, which is a rocky region all the way up on the cliffs in the western part of Orsterra. The town has mines and is well known for being blessed with wealth in the form of minerals (which have caused numerous conflicts). Storywise, the player will enter Quarrycrest in Chapter 2 as Cyrus and Chapter 2 as Tressa.

When it comes to polearms, Warriors, Merchants, Starseers, and Warmasters may equip them.

1 The Forbidden Staff

The Forbidden Staff will give the character who equips it +303 Elemental Attack but also -100 Physical Attack and -50 Critical. It is purchasable from a Kindly Cleric in Saintsbrige Cathedral for 74,250 leaves.

Saintsbridge Cathedral is located Saintsbridge which is a town in the Riverlands, a bountiful region in the southwestern part of Orsterra. The town is known for its grand cathedral despite being a small riverside town. Storywise, the player will enter Saintbridge in Chapter 2 as Ophilia and Chapter 3 as Alfyn.

When it comes to staves, Clerics, Scholars, Sorcerers, and Warmasters may equip them.
