In Octopath Traveler, there are 12 jobs. But four of them are secrets. While they are easily the best, the player cannot attain them until their party is at least Level 50.

This is the requirement though, as just getting to Level 50 will not be enough. Each of the secret jobs means going through a dungeon with a nasty final boss. With enough effort though, the secret jobs Sorcerer, Runelord, Starseer, and Warmaster may finally be accessible...following the triumphs over Dreisang, Balogar, Steorra, and Winnehild.

Dreisang The Archmagus

Octopath Traveler Shrine Dreisang

In East Duskbarrow Trail (in the Woodlands) is the Shrine of the Archmagus. The entrance is past the save point, in the northern direction and then the eastern direction, at the end of the trail after a bunch of chests. Inside is Dreisang, the Archmagus, who stands between the player and the secret job Sorcerer.

This boss is all about magic. Dreisang has the power to alter his own element (via Divine Majesty), debuff the entire party, and cast multi-target (AoE) spells. The strategy here is having a Cleric on the team with Reflective Veil as well as a Dancer with Sealticge's Seduction. Also, breaking him and exploiting his weakness to Swords, Axes, Spears, Lightning, and Light through moves like Thousand Spears works wonders.

The Sorcerer Job

Octopath Traveler Sorcerer

The Sorcerer can use Bows and Staves. They get 20 percent more Max SP, 9 percent more Elemental Attack, 9 percent more Elemental Defense, and 2 percent more Critical. Their Skills deal fire, ice, lightning, wind, light, or dark damage to all enemies three times. They also get Elemental Break, which targets a foe and reduces their elemental defense for two turns, and Dreisang's Spell, a Divine Skill that makes elemental attacks performed by an ally hit for critical damage for three turns.

One of their Support Skills is Intimidation, which grants a 25 percent chance that foes will begin battle with reduced physical attack and elemental defense. Another is Stronger Strikes, which increases damage dealt when striking a foe's weak point. The other Supper Skills are Elemental Aid, which makes elemental attacks consume double SP (but also deal additional damage), and Augmented Elements, which increases damage dealt by elemental attacks.

Balogar The Runeblade

Octopath Traveler Shrine Runelord

In the West Everhold Pass (in the Highlands) is the Shrine of the Runeblade. The entrance is to the east of the save point in the area, past the stone column, at the end of the path going south after a stone arch and into a cave. Inside is Balogar, the Runeblade, who fights the player before the secret job Runelord gets unlocked.

This boss uses elemental attacks on the entire party or a single member of the team (for massive damage plus a debuff). Axes and Dark Magic prevail here since Balogar is weak to both. Aside from that though, he is bested through lots of debuffs and breaks.

The Runelord Job

Octopath Traveler Runelord

The Runelord can use Swords and Axes. They get 7 percent more Physical Attack, Elemental Attack, Physical Defense, and Elemental Defense as well as 6 percent more Accuracy and 8 percent more Critical. Their Skills make weapons do fire, ice, lightning, wind, light, or dark damage for three turns. They also get Transfer Rune, which makes skills that usually target the Runelord affect allies as well, and Balogar's Blade, a Divine Skill that deals damage from each of the six elements to a single foe.

Their Support Skills are Stat Swap, SP Recovery, Dauntless, and Elemental Edge. Stat Swap literally swaps elemental and physical attack strengths. SP Recovery gains SP equal to 1 percent of damage taken. Dauntless increases physical and elemental attacks when suffering from a status ailment. Elemental Edge enhances augmented elemental attack and defense in battle.

Steorra The Starseer

Octopath Traveler Shrine Starseer

In the Western Wispermill Flats (in the Flatlands) is the Shrine of the Starseer. The entrance is in a hidden hillside near a save point, marked by two followers and a red flag. Inside is Steorra, the Starseer, who will grant the secret job Starseer upon defeat.

This boss will reflect physical attacks, cast spells on the entire party, and change her own element following breaks. Still, Reflect Veil (with a Cleric) and Sealticge's Seduction (with a Dancer) is the best strategy gainst Steorra. She is also weak to Scholars, Sorcrer, and Runelords (mostly).

The Starseer Job

Octopath Traveler Starseer

The Starseer can use Polearms and Daggers. They get 15 percent more Max HP and Max SP as well as 2 percent more Physical Attack, Elemental Attack, Physical Defense, and Elemental Defense. Their Skills revolve around dealing wind, light, and dark damage as well as increasing BP, Critical, Defenses, Speed, Evasion, and HP. They get Moon's Reflection, which allows an ally to counter all physical damage once, and Steorra's Prophecy, which is a Divine Skill that casts a spell equal to the party's BP.

Hard Worker, Boost-Start, BP Eater, and Divine Aura are the Support Skills. Hard Worker means more JP after battles and Boost-Start means 1 BP for each one. BP Eater enhances boosted skills and Divine Aura gives a 25 percent chance to prevent incoming damage.

Winnehild The Warbringer

Octopath Traveler Shrine Warmaster

In the North Riverford Traverse (in the Riverlands) is the Shrine of the Warbringer. The entrance is south of the wooden bridge, towards the west side, at the end of a narrow passageway in between hills. Inside is Winnehild, the Warbringer, who will brawl to death in the protection of the secret job Warmaster.

This boss will do everything she can to not be broken. Winnehild attacks the party one by one and counters Physical Attacks. However, her weakness is Ice, Wind, and Dark Magic; therefore, characters with Elemental Attacks will have the advantage.

The Warmaster Job

Octopath Traveler Warmaster

The Warmaster can use Swords, Polearms, Daggers, Axes, Bows, and Staves. They get 12 percent more Physical Attack and Physical Defense as well as 6 percent more Accuracy, Speed, and Evasion. Their Skills affect each weapon type, unleashing an attack. They get Nightmare Chimera too, which is a single deadly move that destroys the weapon, as well as Winnehild's Battle Cry, a Divine Skill that combines all weapons for six attacks on all enemies.

The Support Skill Extra Experience grants additional experience from battles and Stalwart Defense increases Physical Defense by 50. Fortitude on the other hand deals more damage when HP is low and Physical Prowess enhances Physical Attack and Physical Defense.
