The Legend of Zelda-inspired action-adventure game Oceanhorn outperformed expectations when it released in 2013. Originally released on iOS, Oceanhorn was subsequently released on several different platforms year-to-year, selling well over a million copies along the way. Now developer Cornfox & Bros. is preparing to return to that strategy with Oceanhorn 2. Publisher FDG Entertainment has now confirmed that Oceanhorn 2 will be coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as other platforms.

Oceanhorn 2 is already available on both the Nintendo Switch and via Apple Arcade, having launched in late 2019. As such, the announcement today from FDG Entertainment is a significant expansion of Oceanhorn 2's availability. Not only will Oceanhorn 2 be coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but there are also plans to release the game on PC. Further, in the announcement FDG teases "more" platforms to be announced in the future. Possibilities include Android devices or even Stadia.

Oceanhorn 2, like its predecessor, is an open-world action-adventure game heavily inspired by The  Legend of Zelda. In fact, Oceanhorn 2 seems much closer to modern The Legend of Zelda games even compared to its predecessor. The original Oceanhorn features a much blockier style, likely inspired by classic and handheld Zelda games. Oceanhorn 2 features full 3D visuals akin to Skyward Sword.

Why it took over a year for Oceanhorn 2 to come to other platforms is unclear. It's possible Oceanhorn 2 had an exclusivity agreement of some kind, though that doesn't account for the game being available on both Apple Arcade and Switch. Regardless, it's coming to other consoles and PC now. Interested game players will have to wait a while yet for a release window, though.

Oceanhorn 2 is available now on iOS and Switch, with plans to come to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in the future.
