Obsidian Entertainment is a highly regarded developer among fans of RPGs. Founded in 2003, the company has gone on to create some incredibly well-received games, such as Fallout: New Vegas, which even over a decade after its release is regarded as one of if not the best entry in the Fallout franchise. Obsidian has made some other acclaimed titles since Fallout: New Vegas, with its most recent release being Grounded, an interesting title clearly inspired by Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

In short, Obsidian is a studio that many gamers enthusiastically watch to see what it will come up with next. Now, it seems that Obsidian isn't far away from a new reveal, as an employee has posted a tweet that could be teasing a new game from the company. The tweet is from a concept artist working at Obsidian, who said that it will "be extremely cool when I can finally share what I've been working on for the last 2 years." This was then followed by a reply from Studio Design Director Josh Sawyer, who posted a "prayer" emoji.

Given that the concept artist who posted the initial tweet had worked on The Outer Worlds, it is possible they could be referencing The Outer Worlds 2. However, when that game was first revealed, Obsidian made sure to dial back fan expectations by saying that it was nowhere near ready for a release or even gameplay reveal. There are plenty of other projects that Obsidian could be working towards showing fans, too.

Pentinent, for example, is a game that had some details leaked in 2021, and could make for a fitting announcement this year. Pentinent is said to be heavily inspired by Disco Elysium, and will feature the player essentially working as a detective to solve a mystery. There is also Avowed, a new fantasy-RPG in the works from Obsidian set in the same universe as the Pillars of Eternity games, which was revealed last year and could be ready to show off another trailer or even gameplay.

It seems highly likely that no matter what Obsidian does decide to show, that the display will take place at Xbox and Bethesda's showcase later in June. Considering Obsidian is a part of Xbox Game Studios, it would make sense for the developer to reveal its new game at its parent company's showing. Considering Obsidian's reputation, too, its new game would certainly bolster the weight of the reveals at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase.
