Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was released on May 27th, broke the Disney Plus record for the most-watched original series premiere on the streaming platform ever, based on the hours it was streamed by subscribers during its opening legendary weekend. This massive premiere event caused the viewership of the other Star Wars titles on the Disney Plus site to rise as well, with die-hard fans going back to refresh themselves on the old content and new ones to catch up on what they’ve missed. The official Star Wars Twitter account even posted to celebrate the new series' record-breaking weekend, writing, “thank you to the best fans in the galaxy,” in honor of the new record.

The first two episodes of the series that performed so well follow Obi-Wan as he tries to live a lowkey life while he looks after a young Luke Skywalker (played by Grant Feely). However, when a young Princess Leia (played by Vivien Lyra Blair) is kidnaped, he sets out to rescue her from her captors but he is met by many brutal Jedi hunters, whose life mission is to eliminate him. Along his perilous journey, Obi-Wan discovers that Anakin Skywalker, whom he thought died on Mustafar, actually survived and continued to serve the Emperor as Darth Vader.

With the first two episodes already available for streaming and the other four on their way to the site soon, it's clear that Obi-Wan Kenobi will be a great success for the Star Wars franchise. The series will definitely be a major success for the Disney Plus platform, especially now that it’s already breaking records for the streamer.

Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes 1-2 are now available on Disney Plus.
