As the world gets ready to enter 2022, it seems that the likes of Nvidia are getting ready to unleash a flood of graphics cards into the market before many have a chance to take their Christmas decorations down. With Intel about to launch its Alchemist card in Q2 of next year, it's looking like "team green" is fighting for a chance to remain at the top by seemingly drowning out the noise from its latest rival. With that, there have been whispers of an RTX 3090 Ti card on the horizon, and a new leak shows what appears to be the box for the ASUS brand.

A leaker has uploaded a recent photo to Twitter which seems to show a large box which, according to the text on top, contains the Nvidia 3090 Ti. There is not much else known about the product, but it is interesting that there are no details about the GPU to be seen anywhere. From the box, it can be seen that is has PCIe 4.0, which, according to a report, was thought to have originally been PCI 5.0. There's also a section of the photo that cuts off just before anyone can see exactly how much memory this things has, if it is indeed the product in question.

With the rumored RTX 3080 Ti allegedly coming with 24 GB of RAM, it's entirely possible that that is what's printed on the front of the box. However, at this stage, it's impossible to say from the photograph. If this graphics card does hit the market in January 2022, which is the supposed release date, then it will almost certainly be one of the most powerful cards on the current market, it being a souped up version of the 3090 which is considered rather beefy to begin with. This could put some pressure on Intel, and even AMD, to make a splash if they intend to keep themselves afloat in terms of high-end hardware.

It's not just the most powerful GPUs Nvidia is going for, either. Recently, some entry-level laptop RTX and MX GPUs were in the news, which could corner the area of the market intended for those who are looking for affordable graphics cards and/or laptops. The company also recently released a re-branding of its three-year-old RTX 2060, only with 12 GB of RAM instead of 6 GB. Unfortunately, that hasn't gone down too well.

With the new-but-old RTX 2060 12 GB being in short supply, with US and UK retailers struggling to stock any of it, it begs the question of how anyone will get hold of the 3090 Ti. The tech shortages continue unabated, much of which is down to the ongoing pandemic, so Nvidia is likely to find it difficult getting its latest graphics cards into the hands of consumers, anyway.
