While Nvidia and AMD have been duking it out for many years over whom the superior graphics card company is, it's generally the former that is considered the head honcho of the GPU world. However, with Intel announcing its range of Arc products, with the first iteration due either Q1 or Q2 next year, the other two tech giants have a new rival to worry about. With that, Nvidia has been looking to unleash a slew of hardware, just in time for the newcomers and their maiden arrivals. However, it seems that some of those products have had their release dates pushed back.

According to a recent report, Nvidia has had to delay the launch of its upcoming RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB as well as the RTX 3080 12 GB. The announcement of both these cards by the company was due in a couple of days, on December 17, but this does not appear to be the case any longer. There doesn't appear to be any indication as to when these two GPUs will eventually be getting announced and released, but it's possible that "team green" is perhaps waiting to see how Intel's upcoming "Alchemist" card plays out.

The reason for the delay is speculated to be due to the ongoing shortages, in which board partners are finding it difficult to procure components to actually make the hardware. This is something that has been plaguing the industry for around about a year now, and with Intel's own CEO saying shortages could go on until 2023, it doesn't seem like there's going to be an end to the deficit any time soon. While this is frustrating for manufacturers and the big conglomerates, it's even more infuriating for customers who are struggling to get hold of new gaming hardware unless they are willing to pay way above the MSRP.

This is not the first time graphics cards from the California-based multinational have been pulled back from release. It was recently announced that Nvidia had cancelled the 'Founders Edition' of the RTX 2060. The story goes that the GPU was listed in error and was quickly taken down. While the FE variant of the card is not likely to be coming, board partner versions of the 2060 were not cancelled, though retailers have reported insufficient stocks of the rebranded three-year-old card.

However, despite the delay, it looks as though Nvidia will still be releasing the RTX 3090 Ti on schedule, according to the source, and is expected on January 27. Despite the 3070 Ti 16 GB and 3080 12 GB being pushed back, there is still every chance that Nvidia will be able to make a lot of noise in the new year, even if it is running a little scared of Intel right now.
