2020 appears to be pushing gaming technology to its limits given that both consoles and the PC are expected to get massive upgrades this year. The upcoming holiday season will see the release of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which will have beefier specs that will make them twice as powerful as their current-generation counterparts.

On the other hand, the PC graphics card market is also seeing a growing hype on the battle between Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 30 series and AMD's Navi 2X series. Recently, Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3080 Ti was bombarded with several leaks and speculation given that there has been little official information regarding it. Now, for those interested to know what the unofficial information has to say, here is everything we know so far about the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Release Date

If rumors about the upcoming Nvidia flagship cards are to be believed, then it appears that gamers won't have to wait for too long to see the official unveiling of the GeForce RTX 30 series. In a leak from the Chinese site ITHome, it has been claimed that the highly-anticipated GeForce RTX 3080 and the more powerful RTX 3080 Ti will both be released on September 17, 2020. Of course, the release date stated in this leak is slightly later than what Overclocking.com said, which is that both cards will be made available in August.

However, it wouldn't be unlikely for Nvidia to hold a limited launch in August, with a full launch in September. But, looking at Nvidia's history in releasing its flagship GPUs, it appears that the September release date is more in line with the company's pattern of launching new products. It is worth remembering that the current generation RTX 2080 was announced during Gamescom 2018, which took place at the end of August 2018. Of course, given that no official release date has been announced, there is no way of knowing whether these leaks would prove to be true, especially given the impact of the ongoing pandemic.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Price

Given that Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 30 series will be the top of this line GPUs of the company, it is expected that both the RTX 3080 and the more powerful RTX 3080 Ti will be on the more expensive end of the spectrum. Again, Nvidia still hasn't released any details regarding these GPUs but for reference, the current generation RTX 2080 Super is priced at $699, while RTX 2080 Ti retails for $1,199. Although it is still a mystery whether the new line will be priced similarly, it wouldn't be unlikely for the upcoming RTX 30 line to be slightly more expensive than that.

It is worth noting that, looking at Nvidia's history, there was a huge price jump when the company transitioned to the Turing cards, which were more expensive than the Pascal cards that it replaced. It is likely that this could also be the case this time around. However, there have been rumors that Nvidia may be moving manufacturing from TSMC to Samsung. If true, then this could give Nvidia access to Samsung's 7nm extreme ultraviolet, which could reduce production costs. Of course, there is no official confirmation from Nvidia that this is true, so players shouldn't get their hopes up for now.

Based on reports from unofficial sources, it appears that Nvidia's RTX 30 series will likely facilitate the company's return to leading the industry in terms of performance. For comparison, the RTX 3080 is believed to be capable of 21 teraflops of performance, which is nine times more powerful than the Xbox Series X. On the other hand, a leak that is believed to have been obtained from the RTX 3080 Ti claims that it will be 30-40% more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti, allowing the new card to render games in 4K at 60fps with relative ease.

It is also believed that the RTX 3080 will ship with 10GB of VRAM, while the RTX 3080 Ti will come with 12GB of memory. Comparing the RTX 3080 Ti with its competitors also showed that Nvidia may be ahead than its chief competitor, AMD. In a leaked benchmark, AMD's Big Navi GPU, which houses the company's RDNA 2 architecture, only performed 10-15% better than Nvidia's RTX 2080 Ti. If true, then the RTX 3080 Ti performed about 20-25% better than AMD's Big Navi when tested against Nvidia's current GPU.

In the end, there is still not much known about Nvidia's upcoming RTX 30 line. However, given that the hype for this new line of cards only keeps growing, it is likely that Nvidia will make some sort of announcement soon. Of course, if any of the leaks and speculation are to be believed, then it appears that Nvidia is packing some pretty high-end technology for its new line, which could give its competitor AMD a run for its money.
