The release of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 30 series of graphics cards, which are rumored to include the new cutting edge Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, is one of the most highly anticipated generations in years. A newly reported leak claims to have revealed just when Nvidia's GeForce RTX  30 series will be launching and it's sooner than many expect. According to the leak, the first wave of Nvidia Founders Edition cards will be available starting in August.

The report comes from Overclocking.com, which says the leak is double-sourced but leaves its sources anonymous. Founders Edition models of the first Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series cards will become available in August in limited capacity. The 20 series allowed pre-orders for both the 2080 and the 2080 Ti, but also launched the 2070 at the same time without pre-orders.

Releasing Founders Editions typically precedes third-party manufacturer cards by several weeks, and that seems to be the case for the 30 series as well. The leak claims that third-party models of the cards will follow the Founders Editions and will launch in September. A more specific release date was not provided, so the release window will have to do for now.

Official release information for Nvidia's 30 series is surprisingly thin. Despite a number of leaked images and discourse surrounding the hardware, Nvidia has kept mum regarding its plans. It's clear that Nvidia is ramping up its work and that cards are likely already in production, to one degree or another, but Nvidia remains content in its silence.

Given that there's no official release date, it makes sense that there's also still no pricing information available for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series of cards. The 20  series saw a remarkable price increase over the 10 series. The 2080 Ti Founders Edition coast $1,199 and the standard 2080 cost $799.

The price increase was partially attributed to the cards' use in cryptocurrency mining, a trend very unlikely to happen again this year, but whether Nvidia lowers prices or dares to raise them again remains to be seen. No one would be surprised if the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti tops $1,000 again.

If this leak is true and Nvidia plans to launch its Founders Editions of the GeForce RTX 30 series cards in August, an announcement is very likely to be forthcoming. There's only so much time between now and then, after all. When and where Nvidia will make the announcement isn't clear, but PC gamers looking to upgrade should keep paying attention.
