As PC construction has become a more accessible hobby, technology like graphics cards are hot commodities. Nvidia is one of the more popular manufacturers, having broken into the streaming service market and put out crossovers like Cyberpunk 2077-themed graphics cards. Recently, rumors and speculations have appeared online regarding the company's next-generation graphics cards, with one suggesting the Nvidia GeForce 3080 TI may be smaller than some would expect.

An image of Nvidia's GeForce 3080 line of graphics cards leaked in June, and while the products had a unique one-fan bowtie design, it was hard to compare them to anything in terms of size. A Twitter user and known technical leaker named KatCorgi suggested the GeForce 3080 TI may have a 627mm² die based on measurements with a vernier caliper, which according to TechRadar would be smaller than the 754mm² die used in the current Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 TI.

This measurement is not official, as KatCorgi points out, so it may not be 100 percent accurate. However, Wccftech suggests this would put the new Nvidia device in line with using Samsung's current 8nm node. Overall, this would lead to the new graphics card being smaller and more powerful, with the trade-off being a rumored increase in power consumption "due to the use of less-efficient parts," according to TechRadar.

The GeForce 3080 TI would not be the only device in Nvidia's line of new models, and leaks have also made their way online for the RTX 3060 graphics card. It is believed that this model of graphics card, expected to be the more reasonably priced of Nvidia's offerings, is still going through design finalization and will be released a few months after the 3080.

Though it seems the company is gearing up to release more information about the next line of graphics cards based on these leaks, rumors, and speculations, Nvidia is also continuing to push its current suite of tech. The latest RTX promotion comes with a free copy of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, and applies to the 2080 base model, TI, and SUPER; the 2070 base model and SUPER; as well as the 2060 base model and SUPER.

Whether or not the world would have learned more about the upcoming graphics cards had the Nvidia not postponed its online announcements following the cancellation of the Nvidia GTC conference due to coronavirus is unclear. However, those who are interested in upgrading their machines may want to wait, as it seems the Nvidia GeForce 3080 TI could have plenty of improvements.
