Nvidia DLSS support is rolling out to more PC games, and it's finally targeting the VR library. Virtual reality games are about to get a whole lot more realistic, as Nvidia is bringing deep learning super sampling to VR games, starting with No Man's Sky.

In total, Nvidia already has nine titles it's been working to bring DLSS support to, with three of the titles available to try already. No Man’s Sky, Wrench, and Into the Radius all offer Nvidia's DLSS support in VR, boosting both the performance of the games and the visual fidelity. Virtual reality titles are traditionally more taxing on gaming rigs, with high frame rate and visual demands, but Nvidia's DLSS support will improve both the visuals and performance of titles that support it.

Nvidia has performed some internal tests that show DLSS support doubling the performance of No Man’s Sky VR to 90 FPS using ultra graphics on an RTX 3080. Wrench saw a more drastic 80% improvement with Nvidia's DLSS support in VR mode due to the new tech reducing strain. The original version of DLSS released back in 2018, but it received significant improvements earlier this year, which PC gamers are already experiencing.

No Man's Sky is an intergalactic survival adventure that will benefit from these drastic improvements in VR, while Wrench is a simpler mechanic simulator that is less taxing. No Man's Sky is the larger of the three VR games that Nvidia is bringing DLSS support to, but all three offer impressive improvements that show what a game-changer Nvidia's DLSS is. No Man's Sky fans who play the game outside of VR in desktop mode will still see a 70% performance boost while in 4K thanks to the DLSS support.

Virtual reality enthusiasts will need an RTX card in order to get the full DLSS benefits. During GTC 2021 Nvidia confirmed that the Unity engine would receive a significant update in order to bring DLSS to more games, and it looks like this support will extend to VR titles. DLSS support for VR games is simply starting with Into the Radius, No Man's Sky, and Wrench as Nvidia has confirmed that six more titles will receive support soon.

PC gamers who have AMD gaming rigs will have to wait for AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution to release to experience similar benefits to Nvidia's DLSS support for VR. FidelityFX Super Resolution is expected to release later this year, but AMD hasn't released a list of games that will support the upcoming feature. Virtual reality enthusiasts can already play No Man's Sky, Wrench, and Into the Radius with DLSS support, but more games will get the feature soon.
