For more than a year now, the story has been the same, in that the ongoing shortages have caused the prices of AMD and Nvidia products, as well as current gen consoles, to go way over the MSRP, as high as 300% above during the worst parts. Recently, there was some hope on the horizon, as it turned out that graphics card prices had started to come down. They were still above the retail value, but it was the start of something, and now it appears that this trend is continuing on the downswing.

According to some data pulled from eBay, as conducted by Tom's Hardware, a lot of Nvidia and AMD GPUs are still coming down in price, with some displaying a 12% decrease to what they were when compared to the previous month. The report goes on to say that, of all the cards looked into, every single one of them saw prices go down, with much of it being attested to the fact that supplies have been a little higher

Again, it should be stated that hardware is still above what they should be selling for at the retail level. However, when comparing the data to January, it's obvious that, at least as far as eBay listings are concerned, there is quite a difference between how much GPUs were going for just a few weeks ago, to how much they're valued at currently. Even the likes of the powerful Nvidia RTX 3090 has gone from more than $2,600 to $2,341 representing more than a $250 drop, while the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT went from $1,528 to $1,421, which is a $100 difference.

It's entirely possible, as many will be hoping, that this trend will continue as volumes increase overtime. There's still a way to go until products are back to MSRP. For example, the RTX 3090 is supposed to sell for around $1,500, but it's definitely progress. Of course, with the tech shortages possibly going on until 2023, the deficit could be raging on for some time, but there's at least a silver lining if these price drops continue.

Across the GPU market in general, many are anticipating the arrival of Intel's Arc graphics card, which is due to come out Q2 of this year at the earliest. Whether it finally being launched will affect the prices of Nvidia or AMD hardware remains to be seen, but time will tell on that front.
