Nvidia introduced what it calls the world's fastest display for gaming and esports with the reveal of the ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz. The display uses a comfortable 24.5 inch form factor, and outputs in 1080p with variable refresh rate support at up to 360Hz, improving on the current 240Hz standard.

The monitor makes use of Nvidia's G-Sync tech to pump out exceptional frame rates from PC games, meaning fans will need to get their hands on a high-performance graphics card to get the most out of the display. The monitor's support for hardware on the AMD side is unclear, so those on Team Red may want to wait until more news arrives, but GeForce RTX card owners should be able to make use of the display's advanced features out of the box if their rig is built with high refresh rates in mind.

Alongside the monitor's reveal and a debut trailer (embedded above), Nvidia brought out some of its research findings from last year. The company found that players' flick shots in Overwatch were improved by 37% on a 360Hz display when compared to using a 60Hz monitor, and besting the performance on 240Hz by 4%.

Some of the games already built with support for the monitor's tech include Rainbow Six: Siege, Overwatch, Fortnite, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. To show off some of the expanded possibilities granted by a 360Hz display, Nvidia put together a test in CS:GO where players are tasked with eliminating as many targets as possible within 45 seconds, rotating their view all the while to take down enemies. The company plans to bring the demo to this week's Consumer Electronics Show, where the ROG Swift 360Hz will make its debut in the wild.

Nvidia is keeping mum for now on a release date or pricing details on the display, but says that players can expect it to arrive within 2020. The ASUS monitor likely won't be for the faint of heart, with comparable 24 inch 240Hz monitor offerings running in the $400 to $500 range, but competitively-minded PC players or those passionate about getting the highest refresh rates they can may find it worth the investment.
