Hideo Kojima has been one of the most prolific developers in the gaming industry for over thirty years. During his three decades with Konami and later with his own studio, Kojima Productions, Kojima has helped to create some of the most iconic franchises in gaming like Metal Gear and his most recent title, Death Stranding. With Kojima recently teasing a new project coming from Kojima Productions, many fans are greatly anticipating the iconic developer's next title and some believe a familiar face may be involved with the new venture.

After Kojima's publicized split with Konami in 2015, his development team re-established itself as an independent studio and partnered with Sony to create its first fully original game, 2019's Death Stranding. Death Stranding released to a significant level of excitement among the gaming world not only for its legendary director but for its starring role being played by popular The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. Now, a cryptic tweet from Kojima has sparked rumors that Reedus may once again be partnering with Hideo Kojima for the studio's new mystery project.

The tweet from Kojima shows a blurry image of the production set for Kojima Productions' newest unconfirmed project with a particular figure dressed in a white shirt and black pants speculated to be Reedus. Kojima's relationship with Norman Reedus pre-dates the development of Death Stranding as the actor had originally been planned to star in Kojima's highly-anticipated Silent Hills, a reboot of the Silent Hill franchise that was scrapped in 2015 coinciding with Kojima's split from Konami.

While many have speculated Reedus' potential involvement in Kojima Productions' new project may be connected to Death Stranding, no confirmation has been made to any details of the new project, nor to Reedus' participation in the project. The recent announcement of Kojima Productions establishing TV and music divisions could imply that the new project isn't even a game at all, instead being one of these other divisions' debut. The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley also makes an appearance in the replies to Kojima's tweet, sparking speculation that details may arrive during this year's Game Awards.

Hideo Kojima and the recent work of Kojima Productions have established a unique presence within the modern gaming industry. Games from the studio are often likened to movies through their marked focus on story and cinematography and Kojima has even sought famous composers like Hans Zimmer to bring the music of his games to life. While few details about Kojima Productions' upcoming project have been revealed, Kojima himself and the potential involvement of Norman Reedus will surely generate plenty of excitement for fans of the legendary director.
