Back in September 2021, Watch Dogs Legion received an update that fixed a ton of bugs across all platforms. This was the latest in a long line of updates for the 2020 game where players could take on the role of anyone, but not many were expecting it to be the last update. Now, however, it seems it was.

For those keeping up with Watch Dogs Legion, there has been some speculation in recent months that Ubisoft was dropping support for the game. There hasn’t been much of any official communication in recent months, and of course, Ubisoft has a full plate of projects and other releases. Now, Ubisoft has confirmed that the September update was the last one, and that there is no more content planned for the future.

In the past, Watch Dogs Legion has featured an Aiden Pearce DLC, an Assassin’s Creed crossover, and a zombies mode, alongside general updates and patches. The game had an interesting premise and solid support, but nothing like this or anything else will be released now. Watch Dogs Legion’s online mode just entered its fifth season, and so that content will be relatively new to players. But once it comes to an end, there won’t be any “season 6” content. Instead, Watch Dogs Legion will see content from Seasons 3-5 rotated for players.

This information was made available by the Ubisoft Watch Dogs Legion development team, with the team closing out by stating, “The game has grown by leaps and bounds, with a ton of content to explore, from a sprawling near future city to an action-packed Online Mode. We couldn't be prouder of the game we've created, and we appreciate all of you who've joined us on this journey in London over the year. We look forward to seeing more of your adventures in Legion."

So, just to be clear, Watch Dogs Legion’s servers aren’t shutting down or anything, but it has moved from a game with active support to a game with only end-of-life qualities. Fans of the game will still be able to dive into the online game mode, while also playing other video game releases this year.

Ubisoft itself still has several games on the horizon for this year, as well as beyond. Rainbow Six Extraction was released just a few days ago, while the company still has a Splinter Cell Remake, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, The Division: Heartland, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, an open-world Star Wars game, and more—some set for release this year but all in some stage of development.

Watch Dogs Legion is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
