After a much longer than anticipated wait, fans the world over finally got their first glimpse at the return of the lightsaber-wielding, wrestling-obsessed assassin known as Travis Touchdown. Nintendo previously confirmed that the series in which Touchdown originates, No More Heroes, would return on Switch during the platform's showcase this past January, and now more details have been shared on the forthcoming game through the company's "Nindies Summer Showcase" event – namely that it has been titled No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again.

Setting aside the official monicker, Nintendo also confirmed that fans can expect to see the game arrive as a Nintendo Switch exclusive at some point in 2018. While that 365-day window doesn't necessarily narrow anything down for eager gamers, some details regarding the plot of this No More Heroes sequel have emerged that indicate the experience itself will be even wackier than gamers could have imagined.

According to Nintendo, No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Back will take place across worlds from six different indie games. Despite an accounting of all the included worlds being M.I.A., the official reveal trailer for the title confirms that the much beloved (not to mention appropriately violent) Hotline Miami will be one of the indie environments Travis will be traversing through.

For those curious, the narrative of Travis Strikes Again picks up seven years after No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, with a character known as The Bad arriving at Touchdown's trailer in order to exact revenge on the anti-hero for killing his daughter, Bad Girl. During a battle between the two, a "phantom game console" known as the Death Drive MK-II sucks the two killers into the game Travis was playing prior to the battle (that game being the aforementioned Hotline Miami), with the only way back into the real world being for Travis to play through all six indie games and defeat their respective bosses.

All in all, it sounds like a fitting return for Travis Touchdown that should work out well for the indie studios involved and Switch owners alike. Plus, with Suda51 directing No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again, it's sure to be just as over the top as its predecessors.

No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again is set to arrive exclusively for Nintendo Switch in 2018.
