With the wealth of items, features, and planets to explore, gamers can be easily overwhelmed. This article will explain what salvaged data is and where players can find it. Gamers that want to take a shortcut can duplicate the item as well.

The Importance of Salvaged Data

Salvaged data is an essential resource in No Man's Sky. The data acts as a currency in-game to purchase blueprints. These blueprints are used to construct bases, farms, and other important structures. To progress in No Man's Sky, all players will need to collect a fair amount of salvaged data. In turn, finding these scattered resources can be tedious. However, gamers that know where to look will have a much better experience farming Salvaged Data. Additionally, impatient players still have a few glitches to help them duplicate the item.

Where To Find Salvaged Data

Gamers can find salvaged data on any world, it just might take a bit of patience. To locate salvaged data, players should be using their visor's analytics.  The icon that indicates Salvaged Data is near looks like a shield. Players that roam any planet for a few minutes should spot at least one. The item gamers should be looking for is called a Buried Technology Module. Once identified, players should travel to the icon, which will indicate where the module is under the ground. Gamers will then have to do a little bit of digging to access the module. Inside of the module, players will find between one and four salvaged data.

Using Salvaged Data

After spending some time farming salvaged data, players will want to put the resource to use. Gamers should summon their ship and fly into space. Next, gamers can call in the Anomaly to spend their salvaged data. An icon will appear that leads gamers to the back of the ship. Players should follow the icon and use one of the buy stations to spend their salvaged data. Salvaged data is used to unlock Construction and Decorative modules as well as spacecraft and Exo improvements. Legitimately farming enough salvaged data to unlock everything in No Man's Sky can be tiresome. Players that do not mind cutting a few corners can speed up the process by using a couple of different tricks.

Personal Refiner Duplication

One method of duplicating Salvaged Data is to put the data into the personal refiner while in the Anomaly. Once the items are transferred, Players should revert to the autosave that occurs after docking on the Anomaly. After reverting, both the player's inventory and the personal refiner will possess Salvaged Data. This method can be repeated to get exponentially more Data relatively quickly. However, gamers will only be able to duplicate four Salvaged Data at a time. The exocraft method detailed below is more effective for players that already have stores of data.

Exocraft Duplication

Exocraft No Man’s Sky (1)

Players can use their Exo Craft to duplicate Salvaged Data even faster. Gamers should start with a decent supply of Salvaged Data for the best results. After transferring all the Salvaged Data to the character's inventory, gamers need to find their Exo Craft. Most likely, this craft will be on one of the discovered planets. Once gamers have arrived at their exocraft, they should enter the vehicle. Next, players should transfer all of the Salvaged Data to the exocraft. After all of the data has been transferred, players will need to find their ship. By jumping in and out of the ship, the game will automatically create a save point. Gamers can then travel back to the craft and move all of the data back into the exosuit.

Players should then head back to their ship and fly off into the Anomaly. Instead of exiting the ship, players should make one item transfer while still in the ship. If there are no players to transfer items to, gamers should exit and re-enter the anomaly until they locate a player. After the item has been successfully sent, gamers should reload the autosave that occurred when getting in and out of the ship (before returing to the exocraft). The autosave will take gamers back to their ship with a full inventory of data. Similar to the personal refiner method, the exocraft will have the same amount of salvaged data when inspected. Players can proceed to the exocraft and collect the reward for their efforts. Unlike the personal refiner method, players can duplicate more than one stack. In fact, the exocraft will duplicate up to 48 stacks of salvaged data at a time.
