It is no secret that when No Man's Sky was first released back in 2016, players were disappointed with the game's lack of variety and repetitive nature. Luckily, developer Hello Games was able to turn things around by slowly introducing new content in the game, delivering a better gameplay experience to its players. Last March, the studio announced the upcoming expansion called Beyond, and now the studio finally revealed the expansion's release date together with a brand new trailer.

Hello Games confirmed that No Man's Sky: Beyond will release on August 14, 2019. The studio previously revealed that the biggest additions the expansion is bringing to the game are PlayStation VR support and No Man's Sky Online. The PSVR support was also confirmed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in No Man's Sky's expansive environment.

On the other hand, No Man's Sky Online will expand on the game's multiplayer components and will include "a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet an play together." Hello Games clarified that No Man's Sky is not an MMO, despite the upcoming expansion of its multiplayer component. The developers also promised that it will not add a subscription or microtransactions in the game.

While we already know the two major additions in the upcoming expansion, Hello Games did say during Beyond's initial announcement that three major updates will be included in the expansion. As of the moment, the third upcoming feature is still unknown, and the latest trailer released today doesn't provide any clues as to what it is.

All things considered, it is evident that Hello Games is committed to overhauling No Man's Sky with a plethora of new updates that were either already released or about to be released post-launch. It is exciting to see how Beyond's upcoming features will enhance No Man's Sky's overall gameplay, especially since the developer claimed that it is the "most ambitious chapter so far." Luckily, players will be able to see all the radical changes in action soon, when Beyond comes out in two weeks time on August 14.

No Man's Sky is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
