The well-received Atlas Rising update may have only just been released for No Man's Sky, but Hello Games isn't taking a break from providing support for its space exploration title, releasing another new patch a mere two days after the aforementioned Atlas Rising update.

Titled patch 1.31, the latest No Man's Sky update is considerably smaller than the Atlas Rising update. In contrast to Atlas Rising's 30 hours of new story content and various new features, patch 1.31 provides fixes to some issues experienced by players in the game, such as unexpected crashes when players have too many active waypoints, guild missions not rewarding players properly, and crashes when players try to save following long playthroughs.

The list of issues addressed by patch 1.31 include:

  • Fixed an issue causing some players to crash when accessing the galactic map while having too many waypoints active.
  • Fixed a crash some players experience when pinning certain tech.
  • Fixed a crash which occurs when players with particularly long playthroughs attempt to save the game.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes resulted in guild missions not crediting correctly.

No Man's Sky had endured a rocky launch back in 2016, but the last few updates have helped swing player attention back towards its way. The Atlas Rising update proved to be a particularly big hit among players, managing to give No Man's Sky a huge boost on Steam in the subsequent days following its release. While patch 1.31 features far less content than the Atlas Rising update, the fact that Hello Games managed to release it just two days later signifies that the studio intend on supporting the space exploration epic for some time yet.

With various long-promised features, such as multiplayer, finally being implemented into the game, the new slate of content has managed to slowly draw players into coming back to No Man's Sky. There is still a long way to go before Hello Games is able to recover from the game's poorly-received 2016 launch, but should the studio manage to keep up the consistent release of updates and patches, as well as engaging the fanbase with related content like last month's Waking Titan ARG, there's no reason to not believe that No Man's Sky could one day become the game that was initially promised.

No Man’s Sky is available now on PC and PlayStation 4.
