Announced earlier this week, Nioh and its sequel Nioh 2 will be merging together into one enhanced next-generation package, with both games being released as the Nioh Collection. With the collection launching for the PlayStation 5 in February, Team Ninja has already promised that the bundle will be the best way to play both acclaimed RPGs, with better visuals and frame rates.

It will also boast vastly improved loading times thanks to the SSD contained in Sony's newest console, meaning players will have to suffer fewer agonizing waits after failing to slay one of the game's punishing bosses. To show off just how much this means to the experience, a new video on the official Nioh Twitter account reveals the enhanced loading times through a slice of gameplay from Nioh 2.

Beginning on the fast-travel menu, the footage shows the player picking a shrine, welcoming what many would expect to be a lengthy loading screen. In just a few seconds, however, they're back into the game, with the transition being near seamless. Considering Nioh 2 is a brutal game with a lot of challenging enemies to conquer, it's crucial to make trial and error as painless as possible. The Twitter account also shared some new screenshots for the collection as well, including several glimpses at the game's enhanced character creator and a better look at its new 4K visuals.

For those who've never played the Nioh games, they're are often likened to FromSoftware's Dark Souls series, offering brutal challenges around every corner. They're significantly longer than the Soulsborne games they're compared to, however, with the first game clocking in at around 40 hours and its sequel at about 50. The second game released earlier this year to incredible reviews, with critics claiming it built off the foundation of its predecessor and offered one of this year's best RPG experiences. It's sure to entice fans new and old when it hits PlayStation 5 next year.

Of course, it's far from the only current-generation game making the leap to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in the coming months, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Control, Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, and Grand Theft Auto 5 all among the long list of titles slated to make an appearance. The Nioh Collection will apparently run in 4K resolution, boast up to 120 FPS gameplay, and allegedly allow for players to transfer save data. The port of Nioh 2 will also contain the game's upcoming final DLC, The First Samurai, which will allegedly be its toughest yet.

The Nioh Collection will be available for PC and PlayStation 5 on February 5, 2021.
