Thirteen years after Wii Sports Resort and 16 years since Wii Sports launched, Nintendo fans are finally getting the successor to those games in Nintendo Switch Sports. For a while, gamers had been wondering why Nintendo hadn't brought out a new sports title. Nintendo Switch Sports appears to be doing more than just adding some sports to play by swinging around a Joy-Con, as the upcoming title seems to be an homage to previous Nintendo sports games as much as it is giving players something entirely new.Despite Miis not being included in the Switch, it was discovered in February that the popular customizable characters from the Wii would be making their way to Nintendo Switch Sports. These discoveries were made through datamining, but in March the leaks were confirmed to be true as an official trailer for Nintendo Switch Sports showed fans that they could once again create their own characters. There was initially some controversy when the first trailers for Nintendo Switch Sports dropped as it appeared that Miis were being replaced with new characters.RELATED: Nintendo Switch Sports Reveals Stunning New Screenshots of SPOCCO SquareHowever, not only are Miis returning for the player, but one of the most famous and terrifying Miis to exist in Wii Sports is also making his return. New screenshots provided by Nintendo show Matt in Chambara, one of many game modes available for Nintendo Switch Sports at launch. Matt initially appeared in Wii Sports and was one of the toughest CPU opponents for players to take on as they sought to become the best at any given sport.

Matt was the champion of boxing in the original Wii Sports and served as such a tough opponent that players have remembered him even so many years after the game launched. In Wii Sports Resort, Matt returned much to the dismay of many players, as they had to face him in another combat sport. As the champion of swordplay in Wii Sports Resort and the boxing titan of Wii Sports, Matt has been feared and loved by Nintendo fans for years, making his return in Nintendo Switch Sports a welcome one.

Besides seeing Matt return in all his glory, Nintendo Switch Sports' new screenshots show off a few other Miis that will be returning to the game. Although if a player cannot find a specific Mii that they remember from Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort, they are welcome to make them on the Switch. There's the possibility of other Miis being brought in later as well, as it seems Nintendo has plans to consistently bring out new content for Nintendo Switch Sports, as shown by the inclusion of the Golf update.

Nintendo Switch Sports launches April 29, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
