Following the initial reveal trailer for the Nintendo Switch, many gamers were surprised to see that one of the premiere third-party developers on the console was none other than Bethesda. The publisher has a number of infamous properties under its ownership, but the company confirmed from the early goings that it would be bringing its immensely popular title The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim to the Switch at some point in 2017. After months of waiting, the official release date for the game has now been revealed.

During the latest Direct presentation, Nintendo announced that aspiring Dovahkiins will be able to grab Skyrim for Switch on November 17, 2017. Of course, announcements pertaining to this particular piece of software didn't end at a release date, as the house of Mario took the opportunity to confirm that amiibo will also be supported in the now-portable version of the beloved RPG for anyone hoping to unlock some Nintendo-centric content in-game.

The specific line of amiibo that will earn players various goodies in question will be none other than those featuring characters from The Legend of Zelda. As revealed at E3 2017, Skyrim on Switch will feature clothing and weapons from Breath of the Wild, and scanning an amiibo will be the quickest way for players to unlock said content. Those uninterested in purchasing real-world statues to enjoy such bonuses needn't worry though, because Nintendo took time during the presentation to confirm that all of the Zelda items can be found in-game. As it turns out, owning an amiibo featuring Hyrule's hero only speeds up the process.

Bethesda wasn't done there, however, as it was confirmed that the publisher will also be bringing both DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus to Nintendo Switch. Both games are said to be releasing after Skyrim arrives on the hardware this November (with DOOM arriving during 2017's holiday season), much to the delight of gamers looking for a few more of the game company's mature titles.
