The NPD Group is an American market research company that additionally tracks the sales data of the various video games sold in the United States of America. With July being long over now, NPD has calculated the sales of the current generation's game hardware, as well.
Results from these calculations have shown that the Nintendo Switch was the best selling console of July 2020. However, gaming console hardware sales as a whole have declined by 2% when comparing the results to previous years.
The calculations and studies have also shown the top selling video games of July 2020. The top ten games sold for all platforms are:

- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris
Meanwhile, the top ten titles sold for only the Nintendo Switch during July 2020 are:
- Paper Mario: The Origami King
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
