Knights of Pen and Paper is a simple yet addictive RPG where players control four adventurers who kickstart a DnD session. This simple premise leads to a whirlwind of scenarios and battles that are a ton of fun to play in their own right.
If players ignore the wealth of optional content in this game, then they can definitely get through the entire game in just under ten hours. Of course, given the fun that people can have with this title, this is definitely not recommended.
9 Hyper Light Drifter
Hyper Light Drifter combines the best of old-school Zelda-esque exploration with new-age combat to make for a rather exciting experience indeed. Players need to be on their toes and should explore the game world to get all the upgrades they need to survive.
Players can still get through the entire game in just under ten hours by just grabbing a few of these upgrades. It might make things slightly harder, but the combat is fun enough that players can work around these issues.

The Banner Saga combines elements of games like Oregon Trail with tactical turn-based combat. All of this is supported by beautiful hand-drawn visuals that make everything look that much more amazing.
The Banner Saga can be pretty difficult at times, there's no doubt about that. However, players who manage to deal with this difficulty curve will be able to enjoy a pretty great game with amazing visuals that spans an entire trilogy!

The idea of playing a Lovecraftian video game is certainly an intriguing concept. After all, these games make for a great time and let players enjoy the work of the legendary H.P. Lovecraft through an immersive medium.
Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game combines aspects of adventure and RPG gameplay into an enjoyable package. It might not blow anyone's mind, but Call of Cthulhu is a great game that fans of Lovecraftian video games should definitely check out.
6 Minecraft Dungeons
Minecraft is one of the most popular games ever made. It has been represented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as well, and Minecraft Dungeons lets fans check out this game in a dungeon crawler format.
Minecraft Dungeons is not the most revolutionary RPG around, but it does a commendable job given its restrictions. Any fan of the series will love this short-yet-sweet dungeon crawler that is a joy to play through.
5 Child Of Light
Child of Light is Ubisoft's attempt at a turn-based RPG. Suffice to say, they've done a commendable job despite the game's few caveats.
The game's dialogue is spoken exclusively in rhymes, which can get pretty annoying after a point. However, Child of Light doesn't really overstay its welcome and makes for a great RPG that is worth spending a few hours on.
4 Transistor
Supergiant Games are well-known for being experts at tying both a game's narrative and gameplay. This holds true for Transistor as well, even though this title is a bit rough around the edges.
However, the excellent combat and story of this game more than make up for its minor deficiencies. It's an excellent title that any fan of concise RPGs should check out.
3 Deltarune
Deltarune is the long-awaited sequel to Undertale that fans absolutely love. Toby Fox has clearly grown as a developer, and this shows in the various advancements of Deltarune's gameplay systems.
Only two chapters of the game are available right now, and they can all be completed in less than ten hours. Fans of well-written RPGs with great music should look no further than the phenomenon that is Deltarune.
2 Undertale
Of course, it would be impossible to talk about Deltarune without mentioning its wildly popular predecessor. Undertale is one of the greatest indie games of all time, with its unique combat system and excellent writing turning this game into an absolute masterpiece.
Even the somewhat amateurish visuals of this title didn't stop people from checking out and falling in love with this brilliant game. It's easy to see why people still praise Undertale to this day, with the Switch featuring some bonus content that isn't present in any other release either!
1 Dust: An Elysian Tail
A Metroidvania RPG that many people haven't heard of, the short and sweet game that is Dust: An Elysian Tail features great combat and striking hand-drawn visuals that are a joy to look at.
The game might be a little rough around the edges, but its relatively short playtime ensures that players don't have to bear with these issues for all that long anyway. It's a great Metroidvania title that fans of the genre will have a great time with.
