The World Ends With You: Final Remix will be free to play on Nintendo Switch from November 10 through November 16. The offer is exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members. The World Ends with You: Final Remix will then be on sale for 30% off from November 10 until November 23.
The news comes from a tweet posted by Nintendo of America earlier today. In addition to the free trial and subsequent sale, Neo: The World Ends With You will also be on sale for 30% off until November 19.
The World Ends With You is an action RPG developed by Square Enix in conjunction with Jupiter and released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. The game was well-received by critics and players alike. It received high praise thanks to its graphics, soundtrack, and gameplay. In 2012 an enhanced port was developed by h.a.n.d. and released for mobile devices under the title The World Ends With You: Solo Remix. A port for the Nintendo Switch, The World Ends With You: Final Remix, was released in 2018. The sequel, Neo: The World Ends With You, was released for Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4 in 2021.
The World Ends With You has become one of Square Enix's more popular titles for a number of reasons. For those that have been remotely curious about the series, this is the best time to try it out. Thanks to a lengthy trial period and the following sale on both the original game and the sequel, everything can be snatched up for relatively cheap.
Some would argue that if one is going to invest the time required to beat The World Ends With You, it's best to not rush it during the trial period. Additionally, the controls have been criticized for the Nintendo Switch port. Playing it docked is deemed difficult by some and it is recommended to play it in handheld mode. But unless players have access to a Nintendo DS and a copy of the original game, this is the best option available to them. Also, so long as players don't get sucked into hunting pins, The World Ends With You can be beaten in roughly 20 hours, giving plenty of time during the trial. However, should that not be enough time, saved progress will carry over from the trial into the full version of the game.
