Three Super Mario games will be joining the Nintendo Switch Online service soon. Being the standard flag-bearer of Nintendo, Mario has provided some of the best 2D platformers in the company's history. The franchise has evolved with the times and has even transitioned to several different genres over the years. Nevertheless, Mario's origins as the lead character in a lot of successful games will forever be remembered by many gamers.

Mario's relevance in the gaming community has led to many products and tie-ins, some of which include being the star of Universal Studios' Super Nintendo World, as well as the recently released Super Mario Bros. movie. The undeniable success of the icon has spanned decades and the whole franchise continues to be a fixture not just in the gaming world, but also in pop culture in general. Mario's continued presence is a great sign for Nintendo, and perhaps that's why the Switch will be getting three additional games from the Super Mario library.

According to Nintendo's latest PR, Super Mario Advance, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 will be joining the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack library on May 26. The games will also be available to the Japan region as well. This is good news for Super Mario fans as all three games were taken from their Gameboy Advance release. This will allow many young gamers to experience more of Mario's rich history but will also give the older fans a trip down memory lane.

Both Super Mario Advance 2 and Super Mario Advance 3 originally released on the SNES as Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, respectively, while Super Mario Advance was originally Super Mario Bros 2 from the NES. The GBA releases of these Mario titles are considered to be some of the best which should give Nintendo Switch Online more value for their current subscriptions.

Luckily, these new additions will mean more Mario content for Switch owners. As there are a few more Super Mario games from the plumber's history not yet available via Nintendo Switch Online, hopefully, Nintendo can consider adding more in future announcements. There are a few more missing gems from the whole franchise that would benefit from getting added to the library. As it stands, these three new additions will surely go a long way for those who enjoy the adventures of the world's most famous fictional plumber.
