There are a few different reasons to sign up for the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. It's required to play Switch games online, and it lets players back up their game saves through the cloud. However, one of the most appealing aspects of Nintendo Switch Online is that it gives fans access to a slew of classic Super Nintendo and NES titles. The latest batch of free SNES and NES games has just been released, adding four more SNES titles and one more NES title to the lineup.

On the Super Nintendo side of things, Switch Online subscribers can look forward to Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double TroubleSuper Valis 4The Ignition Factor, and Tuff E Nuff. Out of these, Donkey Kong Country 3 is easily the most significant, serving as the third and final entry in Rare's acclaimed Super Nintendo Donkey Kong Country trilogy of games. Its addition means that all three games are available to Switch Online subscribers, boosting its value significantly.

Originally released in 1996, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble received strong reviews at the time of its release, with praise given to both its graphics and gameplay. As far as gameplay goes, Donkey Kong Country 3 mixes things up by making Dixie and Kiddy Kong the playable characters, as opposed to Donkey and Diddy. Dixie has the same hovering ability that she did in Donkey Kong Country 2, whereas Kiddy is able to bounce on water.

There are still quite a few classic NES and SNES games that Nintendo could add to the Switch Online service, but Donkey Kong Country 3 was one of the last ones that fans were really clamoring for. Eventually, Nintendo will need to shake things up by introducing a new platform to Switch Online, though it remains to be seen which system it will go with. Current rumors suggest that Nintendo may be adding Game Boy Advance games to Switch Online next.

If Nintendo did add Game Boy Advance titles to its Switch Online subscription service, it could give it a significant boost. The Game Boy Advance was home to quite a few high quality game releases during its heyday, some of which have been hailed as the best handheld game releases ever. It would also be great to see some Game Boy and Game Boy Color games added to Switch Online as well, though it's possible Nintendo may skip over them in favor of going straight to the GBA.

Other rumors have suggested that Nintendo plans on adding Nintendo 64 games to the Switch Online service, but there isn't as much evidence pointing in that direction. Whatever the case may be, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers have a new batch of free games to keep them busy in the meantime.
