Nintendo just released a new update for its Nintendo Switch Online app, now available to download on iOS and Android devices. The 2.0.0 update to the Nintendo Switch Online app adds tons of new features and a massive overhaul of its design, giving it a more modern and intuitive look.

According to the patch notes released by Nintendo, the latest update adds features such as the ability for players to see which of their friends are online and what they are currently playing. Of course, this quality-of-life feature makes it easier for players to see which of their friends are available for online play. However, the latest update also adds the ability for players to change their online-status settings, which is perfect for those who want to remain incognito.

The latest update to the Nintendo Switch Online app was released days after Nintendo announced changes to the Switch Online service in the form of rewards to online players. According to Nintendo, players will now have more chances to earn My Nintendo Platinum Points simply by using the Switch Online service. Apart from existing ways to earn Platinum points, players can increase their chances by playing online or by playing classic games offered by Nintendo Switch Online.

Although the Nintendo Switch Online service has been in existence for several years now, some players still do not see its value, especially when compared to the services offered by PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, Nintendo recently promised its fans that it is improving and developing Switch Online by adding more features for a better overall experience. Additionally, more retro games are expected to join Nintendo Switch Online in the coming months, with The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask being the most recent addition to the service.
