Coming at the end of a year of sold-out consoles, the Nintendo Switch is the most sought-after Black Friday item in the UK for 2020 so far, according to search data reported.

With Black Friday nearly here, it's no surprise to see the Nintendo Switch at the top of buyers' wishlists after the successful year it's had. The Switch has beaten multiple console sales records this year, against both other Nintendo products as well as the record previously set by the Xbox 360 for being the bestselling console for 21 months straight. And, partially due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Switch has been sold out several times throughout 2020.

Despite the fact that it's officially the next generation of gaming with the release of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, it would seem that the Nintendo Switch is still reigning as the most sought after console on the market, at least in the UK. Data provider SEMrush shared a report with Nintendo Life detailing keyword searches in the country relating to Black Friday over the past year.

Landing at over 398,000 keyword searches is the phrase "Nintendo Switch Black Friday," with searches for Xbox and PlayStation-related Black Friday deals trailing behind at hundreds of thousands fewer searches. And lucky for those seeking out the console, the Nintendo Switch is coming back in stock alongside some pretty sweet bundles and deals in time for Black Friday.

Switch-related Black Friday deals have been popping up earlier and earlier this year. Already, Best Buy offered a $299 bundle of the console and Mario Kart 8 and a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online that's already gone out of stock in the US. Nintendo has also been discounting its prices on the Joy-Con, though this is seemingly partially due to the controversy surrounding the Joy-Con drift.

Nintendo Switch Super Mario Galaxy 2

Nintendo has confirmed the marked-down prices and game deals for many of its first-party titles, including Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Luigi's Mansion 3, which will both be available for $39.99 on Black Friday. Sales for these games start as soon as November 20th.

Additionally, rumors of a Nintendo Switch Pro have been circulating for quite some time with many expecting a release to land somewhere around the Switch's anniversary in March of 2021. This could mean that the newer console would adopt the $299 price, leaving the regular Switch at a permanently discounted price. However, none of this has been confirmed, so consumers will have to wait until upcoming Nintendo Directs to find out.
