Nintendo Switch With Improved Battery Life is On Sale at Amazon

Last July, Nintendo revealed that it is updating the Nintendo Switch with a better battery life. The improved Switch model quickly hit shelves that same month, which is perfect for players wanting to upgrade from the original model, or for those who are getting the Switch for the first time. Now, for those who are still on the fence on whether to get the upgraded model, Amazon is currently offering a slight discount on the console.

For those purchasing the new Switch via Amazon, the retailer is offering a discount coupon of $24.01 for a limited time, reducing the price of the Switch from $299 to $274.99. Although the discount may not be as massive as we would like, Amazon's offering is still a good deal given that it allows players to purchase the console with longer battery life for a cheaper price. Players must know that Amazon shows the original price in its listing but will deduct the discount coupon upon check out.

However, given that the old model is still available in the market, players should ensure they purchase the console with serial number HAC-001 (-01). Players can also check out this guide that explains in detail the difference in packaging and label of the old Switch and the new one.

So how long does the battery life last on the new model vs. the old one? On average, the original Switch can play games for about 2.5 to 6.5 hours, depending on the game and other conditions. However, the new model sports longer playtime that averages around 4.5 to 9 hours. Players can check out our guide that provides the average playtime of specific games on the new Switch such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild among others.

Apart from the new Switch model with improved battery life, Nintendo also released a Lite version of the console last September. The Switch Lite is a watered-down version of the original Switch that is made purely for handheld gaming. Although this new variant was just released last month, it appears that Nintendo is already making a new Switch Lite model after the company recently filed plans to develop a new version with the FCC.
