Happy birthday Kirby! The pink puffball is now 29 years young. And in honor of Kirby's anniversary, the official Japanese Kirby Twitter page has released some art celebrating the occasion.

Kirby's Dream Land for the Nintendo Game Boy was released in Japan on April 27, 1992. A game that is in some ways trapped on the Game Boy, the original Kirby title is remembered by so many. It has now snowballed into a series that has seen dozens of releases and one that is now a top 50 best-selling franchise of all time.

The art that was released is simplistic but energetic and enthusiastic, much like Kirby himself. Much of the crew from the Kirby games are there to celebrate with the spherical hero, including King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee. And of course, it would not be a Kirby celebration without food, as there is a cake dish for Kirby to inhale.

The love for Kirby is very real, in fact, many would like to see him become the new main Nintendo mascot. Kirby's games are often extremely accessible and family-friendly as well. He has also become very marketable even outside of video games and in the world of apparel, plush, etc.

As far as upcoming 2021 Kirby announcements, there are fans that hope 2021 will see a new true Kirby entry into the series. Hal Laboratory did tease that something was on the way this year, and what better way to celebrate another birthday than with a brand new and exciting video game for all to enjoy.
