Even once he's retired from the gaming industry, Reggie Fils-Aime will be remembered for a lot of things: the Nintendo of America executive is a personable, enigmatic, and entertaining man. He got up to some pretty ridiculous antics during his time at Nintendo, but he also delivered heartfelt, passionate speeches about what Nintendo had to offer consumers. With April 15 set to be the last day at Nintendo of America before Reggie retires, it's worth looking back at some of the most memorable, wild moments from a man who's very first words on the job inspired countless years of good-natured jokes.

6 1. Reggie Sets The Tone

It's 2004, E3 is in full swing and the Kodak Theatre is packed full of media awaiting to hear what Nintendo is bringing to the plate. A then-unknown Reggie Fils-Aime took to the stage and, with a world full of eager Nintendo fans watching, introduced himself with this statement: "My name is Reggie. I’m about kickin’ ass, I’m about takin’ names, and we’re about makin’ games."

It was an opening line that nobody had expected, but it really set the tone for Reggie's tenure at Nintendo of America. He wasn't just another business executive in a suit, he was a gregarious leader ushering in a new era - and a new attitude with Nintendo. Beyond that, he proved he was evidently comfortable with the spotlight being put on him, too. This is, perhaps, where Reggie would shine the most.

5 2. Reggie Gets The Muppet Treatment

It was in 2015 that Reggie Fils-Aime got the full-on Muppet treatment. In a special Nintendo Direct, the company opted to use a trio of puppets to deliver its message in memorable fashion. Alongside Muppet Reggie was the late Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto, but it was Muppet Reggie who really stole the show.

In the video, fans got a brief look inside of Muppet Reggie's room, which was filled to the brim with weights and gym equipment. Muppet Reggie was inside, busy doing push-ups while clad in a button-down shirt in a cameo appearance that would sound ridiculous for any business executive that wasn't Reggie Fils-Aime. Plus, the puppets that Nintendo used were actually produced by the Jim Henson Company, which makes Reggie Fils-Aime as close to an official Muppet as one can get.

4 3. Reggie's Got 99 Problems

Reggie Fils-Aime Not My Problem

In 2005, Nintendo DS sales flew well above those of the Sony PSP, a trajectory that would continue for the rest of the mobile device's lifetimes. Fielding questions in an interview, Reggie was asked if the PSP's lackluster sales were simply due to the fact that Sony's device hadn't yet launched in Europe.

Speaking candidly, Reggie replied with "You know what? That’s Sony’s issue. Not my problem." Fans picked up on the quote and attached it to the perfect image of Reggie giving a shrug, and the image became shared widely online. If there's one thing that can define Reggie's time at Nintendo, it's that the man had a knack for making shareable content.

3 4. Reggie The Regginator

When 2008 hit its stride, Nintendo was going full-steam ahead building hype for Wii MotionPlus technology. Wii Sports had gamers around the world getting off of their couches to play golf, tennis, and bowling, and its successor Wii Sports Resort was nearing release.

To build up excitement for its launch, Reggie Fils-Aime took to the stage with Cammie Dunaway, the company's VP of Sales and Marketing, to demonstrate the Wii MotionPlus technology. The duo jumped into a swordfight, with Reggie emerging the victor. He turned to Cammie and, almost nonchalantly, said "and that’s why they call me the Regginator". While nobody had really called Reggie that before, they certainly started calling him that afterwards. He'd made up his own nickname, and fans ate it up. It was the ultimate power play.

2 5. Reggie Fils-A-Mech

When a company partners with a YouTube channel like Mega64, things are probably going to get pretty wild. Nintendo's skit from E3 2014 featured a robot Reggie Fils-Aime heading to the Nintendo of America's offices in order to get the scoop on the company's latest work. Reggie played a robot version of himself that began to malfunction as the video progressed. He started shooting lasers from his eyes, inadvertently murdering his coworkers and once again showing the world that Fils-Aime isn't afraid of being the heart of a good gag. The Fils-A-Mech moniker was a nice touch, too.

Reggie FIls-Aime My Body Is Ready

1 6. Reggie's Body Is Ready

The holy grail of Reggie Fils-Aime moments resulted in one of the most oft-referenced, talked about, and memorable one-liners that the gaming industry has ever seen. When tasked with generating hype for the Wii Fit Balance Board - a tough act, given that fans really wanted to see a new Legend of Zelda game - Reggie knew he had to fill the stage with his character. As he prepared to show off the board, Reggie delivered a now-infamous line to the crowd: "My body is ready". Fans would go on to repeat this statement during any bit of exciting Nintendo news, and some 12 years later fans still frequently use the phrase.

While Reggie Fils-Aime is poised to enjoy retirement, his words and influence will live on forever at Nintendo. He always came across as an interesting, enigmatic figurehead, delivering memorable moments on a consistent basis. After 15 years with Nintendo of America he's likely got plenty of stories, so don't be surprised if some Reggie Fils-Aime quips make waves even in the retirement era.

Reggie's successor has big shoes to fill, but by virtue of a serendipitous name, he's already produced plenty of fandom. The new Nintendo of America COO is named Doug Bowser, and his announcement prompted plenty of references to a certain similarly-named Princess-stealing Koopa. It'll be interesting to see how Bowser fairs when it comes to live presentations, but with a name like that one suspects he'll feel right at home.
